Politics of the Future
What do you guys think the Political Systems and Modes of thought will look like in the upcoming decades? Will they be democratic or autocratic? Will they be libertarian or authoritarian? What will be the same as governments of today, and what will be different? How will new technologies and advances in Ai, Biotech and Energy Production affect both politics and geopolitics? I’m interested to hear your guys thoughts

By perfect policing do you mean a move towards a kind of corporate police state as in Robocop, or where algorithms that currently predict consumer behaviour are so advanced they can predict crime as in Minority Report? I think both are Dystopias we should strive to avoid, but personally I think the Minority Report future would be worse. I think that even though we can all agree bad is bad, if it’s impossible to be bad then being good is no longer good without its juxtaposition to bad. If we removed our free will to choose and just made everyone constantly cheery and kind we would not consider them good people but slaves, likewise if we simply didn’t force people to be good, but made being bad nigh impossible to the point where only the stupid could be bad, then being good would not be a matter of virtue but simple self-interest. Studies have already shown Dark Triad Machivellians already behave like this, with them acting "good" when it benefits them and "bad" when it benefits them. Should being bad have no benefits, even people who lack moral qualms will act good Sources: Bereczkei, T., Birkas, B., & Kerekes, Z. (2010). "The presence of others, prosocial traits, Machiavellianism: A situational model of Machiavellianism." European Journal of Personality, 24(5), 467-482. Spitzer, M., Fischbacher, U., Herrnberger, B., Grön, G., & Fehr, E. (2007). "The neural signature of social norm compliance." Neuron, 56(1), 185-196. But humans have an inborn mechanism to differentiate between pro-social behaviour and anti-social behaviour that is present in infants, to blur this ability to recognise good and bad might be beneficial in the short term but I think would be more harmful in the long term to our evolution as a species.
