OpenAI Just Announced Sora: A New Text-To-Video Model
I've been making videos for 20 years and studying AI for 10 years. Seeing these two worlds come together is truly exciting to me. 🎬 Yesterday, OpenAI announced Sora: their new text-to-video model. Sora can make up to one-minute videos with detailed scenes, fancy camera moves, and characters full of life. Another quantum leap in the field of AI that will completely transform how businesses create content. Think about it: making your own Netflix show based on a single prompt? It's on the way. 🍿 What kind of show would you create? 😂

Resurrect an ancient library
I would like to share a fascinating story for y'all. In 79AD a volcanic eruption destroyed a villa, and with it a an enormous ancient library of papyri. Burned up and crumbled they fall apart when you touch them, but in this state they were preserved. Today with the help of crazy xray scans and machine learning we (as humanity) first recovered an unknown text from 2000 years ago. If progress continues we stand to enhance our understanding of that history in unprecedented ways. Take a look this website: https://scrollprize.org/grandprize

Is Freelancing Right for You?
Naval Ravikant, co-founder of AngelList and well respected entrepreneur and investor, thinks that we are heading towards a future where we will all be freelancers again. He offers valuable insights into why this shift might occur Factors such as the rise of remote work, the emergence of freelance platforms, advancements in AI technology, and evolving cultural norms are all contributing to the gradual transformation of the work landscape, working together to reduce external transaction costs. Naval also makes a fair point about humans not being built to work consistently all the time and still be expected to remain productive. Quality of work output is not linear. He describes how the "modern knowledge worker athlete" is most productive. Which involves training hard, sprinting, resting, and reassessing, then using the feedback loop to prepare for the next sprint. Similar to how freelancers move from project to project. If you purely look at the numbers, Naval might be onto something here. According to a recent study by Upwork: - Freelancers made a significant contribution of $1.27 trillion to the U.S. economy in annual earnings in 2023, which is a substantial increase from $713 billion in 2014. - The study also revealed that the number of professionals freelancing has risen to nearly 64 million Americans, accounting for 38% of the U.S. workforce. This marks a noticeable growth from 34% in 2014. I've been freelancing for a decade, so I might be a bit biased, but I agree with Naval's perspective on the future of work. What do you think? Will the number of freelancers continue to increase in the future? And have you ever considered freelancing? What's holding you back? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

@Badr Laajali Yeah you are right. But depends of the focus, for example, I see an advantage for the shorter duration one without stability for who wants either to make an extra money or to have a second job. Would fits well for who already have a fixed job and have some free hours that can be used to make more money.

@Dave Ebbelaar Yeah how to prospect this clients is something that I don’t know tho. I remember on that websites like upwork that people are always choose freelancers that already had delivered more projects in the platform and even when I was showing cases from a normal job they were not “believing”. Expertise is not a problem for me at all I think is more “sales” skill on that freelancer world.
