Exciting News: I Cleared the DP-600 Exam! Here's How I Did It
I’m thrilled to share that I recently passed the DP-600 certification exam, and I want to share my journey to help others in the community who are also preparing for it. I hope my experience provides you with some helpful insights and inspires you to reach your own goals! Here’s what worked for me: 1. Microsoft Learn Portal: This was my go-to resource. I focused on completing the DP-600 study guide, which includes excellent lab exercises that reinforce the core concepts. It’s incredibly hands-on! ➡️ Microsoft Learn - DP-600 Guide 2. Will Needham's YouTube Videos: Will's videos were game-changers for me. His in-depth explanations of the core concepts and exam structure really helped clarify things. His exam-focused approach made the difference in my preparation. ➡️ Will Needham's DP-600 Playlist 3. Skool Community Portal: To dive deeper into specific topics, I turned to the Skool Community portal. It’s a great place to further understand concepts covered in Will's videos and to get additional resource support. ➡️ Skool Community Portal - Microsoft Fabric 4. Microsoft Practice Test: The practice test on Microsoft Learn was invaluable in gauging my understanding and readiness for the exam. ➡️ Microsoft Practice Test 5. MeasureUp Practice Test: I invested in a 30-day subscription to MeasureUp’s practice tests, and it was worth every penny. The detailed explanations for each question helped me identify areas where I needed more study. I took the test 2-3 times to solidify my knowledge. 6. Microsoft Exam Readiness Zone Videos: After covering all the above, I watched the exam readiness zone videos to understand the overall exam objectives. These videos helped me review the key topics right before taking the exam. ➡️ Exam Readiness Zone

It could be that these people are taking the 12-month renewal exam, which is likely different to the people taking a first-time exam
Lakehouse Table Creation
Hello. I am wondering if you can create a table from a view in the SQL Analytics endpoint in the Lakehouse. I am receiving errors around permissioning but I cannot tell how to fix the permissions. Here is the error message below: "The external policy action 'Microsoft.Sql/Sqlservers/Databases/Schemas/Tables/Create' was denied on the requested resource." Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi David, you won't be able to use CTAS (or CREATE TABLE) on the Lakehouse T-SQL endpoint, unfortunately, it's for read only operations. Some options for you to consider: - create a Data Warehouse and from there, you could use a CTAS statement, SELECTing from your Lakehouse T-SQL endpoint. - You could use Spark SQL for creating new tables in a Lakehouse, but I don't think you will have access to your T-SQL view from your Spark Session. so it would probably involve rewriting your T-SQL view logic in Spark Sql
fabric Lakehouse support for Iceberg
Has anybody tried Lakehouse with Apache Iceberg table format storage? Any suggestions.

Hi Amit, it's certainly Microsoft's vision to support this in the future, see their fairly recent White Paper on the future of OneLake. I think at the moment though, it's still a vision, rather than a feature.
Events this week
Hey everyone! Last week, I had the opportunity to present at the London Fabric User Group on the topic of "Life after DP-600 - How To Thrive as a Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer" - photo courtesy of @Edward Ritchie - thanks Ed! This week (Tuesday eve, West US time) I'll be doing the same talk at the Silicon Valley Fabric Meetup group - it's an online event that I think anyone can sign up for, so check it out: https://www.meetup.com/silicon-valley-microsoft-fabric/events/301865641/?eventOrigin=group_upcoming_events This afternoon (4pm, UK Time), I'm doing an Onboarding Call in the Fabric Dojo community, introducing new members to the community. So if you want to sign up for the Dojo today, you can get a near-instant onboarding 🙂 Then next week, we have European Fabric Conference to look forward to - so probably lots of new announcements on Fabric! I'm also working on re-starting the old YouTube account (I remembered my password! 😉) - so look forward to that in the next few weeks - lots of new, hopefully regular, videos coming soon! What are you up to this week? Anything interesting??

Thanks to those that attended the Meetup - hope you enjoyed the talk! I think it was recorded, so I believe it will be published on YouTube soon enough. I also plan to record myself giving the presentation again for my own channel - so you should all have access to the talk soon enough 👍
Lakehouse Schemas for Medallion Architecture
Since Schemas now been introduced to Lakehouse as a preview, is it okay to go for the medallion architecture within the same Lakehouse with schemas of Bronze, Silver and Gold? Not very sure with regards to best practices for this

@Suresh Guddanti Hi Suresh and @Wassam Masood , there are many reasons you might want to be careful with this Preview feature, see the full list of published limitations of the Public Preview here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/data-engineering/lakehouse-schemas#public-preview-limitations As well as the published limitations, there have been many instances of users having 'challenges' with this feature. I recommend for all production use cases to wait until this feature reaches GA, before you implement fully 👍
