Finally kept score!
I finally kept an honest score last Thursday while golfing with Nik and the Murray Parkway golf course. I got 50 through nine holes. It might not seem like much, but I was proud of myself for not losing a ball, not redoing any shots, and keeping official score! Now I have a place from which to start measuring improvement.

This was the closest I've been to a birdie
But of course, I three putt and didn't even get par.

I'm pretty new to both the dad club and the golf club and I am stoked to be part of both! I have a young daughter who is about a year and a half old and she is one of the best things that ever happened to me. She is so much fun to hang out with, and I know life will keep getting more interesting as she is already super mischievous. I got into golf last June after my friends (and co-creators of Dad Sanity) asked me to golf with them because they were desperate for a fourth. I had some really old clubs I inherited and thought "Why not?" Well, they probably regret asking me to go now because I'm addicted and I'm the enabler in the group. At least, their partners probably regret it! I'm also a big tech nerd, a huge Star Wars fan, and used to spend a substantial amount of time playing video games, and while I don't play as much as I used to I've still managed to spread some democracy to the bugs and bot in HellDivers 2 with the boys. I'm a huge advocate for making sure you balance family responsibility with hobby time because dads with hobbies are the coolest dads. 😎 I look forward to getting more dad friends addicted to golf, until then, here is my favorite gif.

Let me introduce myself...
Like Justin, I'm really excited to help create this community for dads who are looking for ways to take care of themselves so they can be an even more present father. I have two boys, ages six and four. I have the misfortune of being divorced, and we have split custody. The six year old lives with me, and the four year old lives with his mother in Oklahoma. Though that will change in the near future, and I will have custody of both, it is extremely difficult only seeing my little guy every few months. I'm hoping this community can grow and become a place where we can help each other face life's challenges. As far as golf goes, I love it for many reasons. I get to spend time with good people in beautiful places, and it's a sport I can play that doesn't require running!

I ruined nap time today…
My wife had a doctor appointment today so it was up to me to get our little one down for a nap. Everything went so smooth. She went down easy, didn’t call for me, didn’t climb out of bed or come out of her room. But then… She wakes up an hour later screaming and is so distraught. I rush upstairs and find her out of bed standing there. I forgot to put a pull up on her. 🤦‍♂️ That won’t ever happen again!
