Today I had an interview for an online course called Memorisely. The role is for me to teach like-minded individuals who want to become UX/UI/Product designers. Currently, I do this with another online school/bootcamp but it's just not as lucrative as it once was. So, I decided to be proactive and see what else is out there that I can do to utilize my skillset. I saw that Memorisely was hiring and so I applied. Today was the final interview where I had to run through a task that is part of the curriculum they teach. The money isn't life changing, but it's something. For 3 hours a week, I'll $200. 1.5hours is dedicated to teaching and the other 1.5hours is dedicated to async feedback on the students work. The courses are either 8 or 16 weeks. I believe I can do either.
I look at this as a bunch of positives.
- It gives me the opportunity to teach the next wave of tomorrow's designers which is pretty fucking cool IMO.
- make some extra income
- which then I could invest with, or pay off debt, contribute to savings
- I think the biggest take away is that it helps me become a better speaker, planner, organizer, etc which will then help me incorporate these techniques into my own business down the road.
Now, I don't know if I got the job yet, but I left feeling like I did after the interview. I'll keep you all posted.
