These are deeper waters on Energy Storage Best Practices. Typically, Homeowners and Businesses will pair solar and batteries together, but it isn't mandatory.
Depending on your utility company and homes orientation, It's possible that a better option for home backup is just throwing a few batteries in with/without a generator, or simply using a bi-directional EV charger to power your house!
