interesting perspective on the need for more energy production as AI evolves more and more

Amazing input @Jono Hendricks! As AI develops, more electricity will be required. Policy makers are having a hard time predicting the extent. Large software companies like Oracle, Google, and Microsoft are being denied AI data center permits because utilities canโ€™t provide the power to support them, which leaves a HUGE opportunity for homeowners with the right mindset to benefit (see Virtual power plant section for further context)
Fielding Questions
@Will Geist Asked whats a real life scenario of solar math not working out? There are many scenarios that can potentially lead to solar math not working out. - Shading not accounted for - The utility changing their net metering policy - The sales rep was dishonest/the design wasnt accurate - consumption not being accurate during system design without 12-months of usage Theres a few. Let me know what other questions there are!

What are Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) and Why are They Important?
VPPs are, without question, the future of U.S. Smart Grid Infrastructure. The first stages are currently being implemented in various states now like CA, CO, VA, and a few others Imagine a neighborhood where homes with solar panels, batteries, and smart appliances work together like a team. That's basically a VPP! A VPP is a network of homes and businesses that share their energy resources. It's like a digital power plant that doesn't exist in one place but is spread out across many locations. How does it work? 1. Smart software connects and controls energy devices in different homes. 2. These devices might include solar panels, batteries, electric cars, or even smart thermostats. 3. The software can tell these devices when to use power, store it, or send it back to the grid. Why are VPPs important? 1. They help balance the power grid, especially when lots of people are using electricity. 2. VPPs make it easier to use more renewable energy like solar and wind. 3. They can lower electricity costs and even earn money for participants. 4. VPPs reduce the need for polluting power plants. As we move towards cleaner energy, VPPs are becoming a crucial tool. They help us use energy more efficiently and make our power grid smarter and more reliable. The main challenges right now are wide-scale implementation and the necessary security software to ensure the system wont be hacked.... A little scary, yes, but it's happening either way! The attached CNBC video shows a relevant description.

Who are Backup Power Pioneers?
These are deeper waters on Energy Storage Best Practices. Typically, Homeowners and Businesses will pair solar and batteries together, but it isn't mandatory. Depending on your utility company and homes orientation, It's possible that a better option for home backup is just throwing a few batteries in with/without a generator, or simply using a bi-directional EV charger to power your house! The Options are Endless. Let us know what your ideal backup strategy would be in an outage and why!

Solar Shoppers United
There's a universe of info on solar, most of which is designed to sell it to you for the most $$$ possible, regardless of the quality or very existence of the service. Way too many scams afloat. Attorney Generals in FL, AZ, TX, AK, MN, CT, KY, and more states are filing lawsuits against deceptive solar companies, reps, and banks. The Solar Shoppers United Section of ESS is designed specifically to act as a barrier of homeowner protection. ESS has all the relevant experience to guide you, but we genuinely don't care if you install solar or not. We are here to give you the truth on the entire solar industry from contract review, equipment quality, installers, financing (lease vs. loan), net metering, backup power, and anything you need to know when you're thinking about making the switch. Watch out for: - High Dealer Fees (Financing where you are buying down the interest rate but don't know it) - Leasing Escalators - ask for a fixed rate - 1-1 net metering claims (California may cancel grandfathered NEM 2 Solar Customers) - New Installers (Many are just glorified sales dealers that subcontract everything, drop ship panels to your house, and have no idea what they're doing) - Shading from trees and adjacent buildings make a huge difference on production - Don't believe the sales reps offset claim. Get a few extra panels just in case and be willing to negotiate the price. Sales margins are usually pretty high. What has your experience been like so far, and how can we help?
