For Anyone That Has Suffered Loss
I've been praying asking God to give me a way to express that feeling that comes over you like a tidal wave when you realize someone you loved very much passed away or walked away from you. We all leave the footprints of loss. The anniversary of the death of Shannon my daughter who died in her sleep from a drug overdose has come and gone and it left me broken once again.
It is a terrible thing to love what death can touch and it has touched us all.
The Sound of Absence

I have changed in case you couldn’t tell,
I’ve been drinking from a Samaritan well.
I have learned that God will break your heart,
If he sees that Satan is shredding, you apart.
You will cry like a child and you will feel broken,
You will remember the words God has spoken.
I shut the door of my soul and I changed the lock,
The Shepard noticed one missing from his flock.
It is so strange when someone dies or goes away,
That silence like no other leaves nothing to say.
Something is gone that you can’t ever get back,
I am left here with feelings that I can’t unpack.
Your absence has left a silence I feel in my soul,
Everything that left with you has taken its toll.
Your absence has left me with unspoken words,
I’ve wondered what were the last words you heard.
I just know that I didn’t get a hug or say goodbye,
I have said it a hundred times but you don’t reply.
God is with me or I may have left the way you did,
I hope when we meet again we will both be kids.
