God is so good to give us the words we need in the moments we need them. We are overcoming sickness in our household and thanking God for healing over our physical bodies, in Jesus name.
This week, Pastor Ed offers a segment of devotionals around the trials we face, and how God uses trials to prepare us so that we can receive the blessing on the other side of it. God is with us in every trial and will give us the perseverance through it when we rely on Him. Remembering that His power works perfect in weakness, when I am weak, He is strong. Regardless of how we feel, we can tap into His power, a power that is limitless and perfectly suited to meet our every need.
I can testify that I can feel His presence when I pray the Word over my life, my body, my husband, my children, my circumstances- because the Word of God is active and full of power! "It is sharper than the sharpest, two edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow." Hebrews 4:12
Whether you are in the midst of a storm or coming out of one, or just trying to keep your head above water, do you see God's hand in your life? Praising God for who He is and what He has done always helps me to see His goodness regardless of circumstances or how I am physically feeling. I attached some prayer starters from Wanda Alger and the song, "Yes, I will" by Vertical Worship is one I sing over my trials.
Take some time today to journal to keep a record of His faithfulness in your life.
Perseverance Through Trials: by Pastor Ed Newton
"Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope."- Romans 5:3-4
When you're going through a tough time, it’s natural to want the trial to end as quickly as possible. But have you ever considered that God might be allowing the trial to be prolonged because He’s building something essential in you? That something is perseverance. While it might be uncomfortable, perseverance is one of the most important qualities you can develop in your spiritual journey, and it’s crucial for the road ahead.
Perseverance isn’t just about enduring hardship; it’s about growing stronger through it. When you face trials that stretch on longer than you’d like, it’s easy to feel weary and even question God’s purpose in it all. But in those moments, God is at work, deepening your stamina and teaching you how to keep going, even when you feel like giving up. He’s building in you the ability to endure not just the trial you’re facing now, but also the challenges that will come in the future.
The Apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 5:3-4 that suffering produces endurance, which in turn produces character, and character produces hope. Notice the progression: it starts with suffering, but it leads to hope. This hope is not a fleeting wish; it’s a confident expectation in God’s faithfulness. And its perseverance that acts as the bridge between the trial and the hope.
God knows what lies ahead for you, and He’s preparing you for it right now. The perseverance He’s building in you is crucial for the next steps in your journey. Without it, you might falter when the next challenge arises. But with it, you’ll be equipped to face whatever comes, knowing that God has already carried you through so much and will continue to do so.
So, when your trial seems to stretch on and on, take heart. God is building your stamina for the race ahead. He’s strengthening you in ways you might not even realize. And this perseverance is going to be key for your journey moving forward. It’s the foundation upon which your faith will stand strong, and it’s the tool that will help you press on toward the incredible things God has planned for your life.
