Top 5 DIY Ways to Grow Indoors on a Budget (No Yard Required!)
Hey Rooted Indoors family! Josephine here 🧑🌾 I was thinking about the biggest hurdle we faced when we moved into our townhome with no yard. ❤️🩹🌱Luckily, growing fresh produce doesn’t require a sprawling yard or a fancy greenhouse. After I did a little research, I found that with a little creativity, you can start a thriving indoor or small-space garden without breaking the bank! Here are the top 5 DIY methods to get your green thumb working, even when space is limited: 🌿 Balcony Gardens: Use containers, hanging baskets, or vertical planters. Herbs, tomatoes, and strawberries all love balcony life! 🌞 Windowsill Growing: Got sunlight? Perfect! Herbs, microgreens, and leafy greens grow great on sunny sills. You can even regrow kitchen scraps! (A course coming on this one, FOR SURE) 🌸 Porch Add-Ons: No balcony? Use your porch! Add hanging planters or small shelves to maximize space for pots. Just check how much sun your porch gets. (Our neighborhood uses this one A LOT!) 🏡 Vertical Wall Gardens: Use old pallets, shelves, or even shoe organizers to grow up, not out! A fun and space-saving option for herbs or small plants. 💡 Grow Lights Anywhere: Not enough sun? No problem! Set up a DIY grow light (cheap LED bulbs work!) and create a cozy plant spot in any room. Personally, we use a combination of some shelves from Costco and LED grow lights we bought on amazon. It was a bit of $ upfront, but it's lasted us a good long time (coming up on 2 years soon!) I'll share some pictures of our grow room, as well as some options I found online. Do you have a creative space-saving solution you're already using? Share it! We'd love to see! 📸👇
