6/3/24 Devotional
Lets start the week off strong and dive into what the Bible has to say about hard work. Hard work is a principle that resonates throughout the Bible, emphasizing diligence, perseverance, and the fruits of labor.
The Bible commends the virtue of diligence and the importance of giving our best in all we do. Proverbs 13:4 says, "The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat." This verse teaches us that while the lazy person may have desires, they will not be fulfilled without effort. In contrast, the diligent person will be rewarded.
Colossians 3:23-24 instructs, "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ." Our work should not be done just for human approval or recognition, but as if we are serving Christ Himself. This perspective elevates our daily tasks to acts of worship and service to God.
Finally, the benefits of hard work are not just for the individual but also for the community. Ecclesiastes 9:10 encourages us, "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest." We are urged to work with all our might because our time on earth is limited, and we have the opportunity to make an impact now.
As we reflect on these scriptures, let us commit to working hard, not just for our own benefit but as a testament to our faith and a service to others. May our labor honor God and serve as a light to those around us.
