Hello,
I am a rising sophomore, and I want to submit a project to qualify for ISEF! However, since it is the summer time, not many professors are responding to my cold emails. They may reply by the end of august or start of September, but I don't want to risk hearing that they cannot take me in. On the other hand, I was thinking of doing a computational independent project, though I don't have coding skills. So should I first decide what topic and research question I want to do my research on(I was thinking of doing something related to biochemistry and find a way to incorporate computation in it) and then figure out what coding skills I need to learn, or do it the other way around. I have a couple of weeks before school starts(like about 3 weeks), and even after school starts, I can try to squeeze in my research work everyday for 1-2 hours, and more on the weekends. Can anyone advise me on how I can make a winning project from scratch, without knowing coding, and if possible give me a brief outline on how I should go about doing research? I would really appreciate it!!
