Break-in time for boots - and the reward after
Looking to upgrade my Carreras derby skates from the 90s 😬 with no ankle support at all, and want to be a great rhythm/dance skater! I can dip, transition, grapevine, backwards skate, and am dabbing in toe spins, but can feel my flat skates are holding me back with some more advanced moves (crazy legs, heel/toe spins, one foot spins, advanced dips with that gorgeous eagle spread). I think I need a boot with some ankle support!
I'm excited to get a custom setup with some powerdyne reactor neo plates.
However, I'm nervous about the stiff ankle and long(er) break-in times of the reidell 120s, 220s, 336s, jack 1/2.
I'm 130lbs and skate 1-2 times per week mostly indoors, never at the park.
How long did it it take y'all's reidells and jacks to mold to your foot? Was the break-in time worth it?
Thank you all!! Keep skating!
