Somatic Archaeology© is a historical trauma recovery modality. It was developed by Dr. Ruby Gibson in 1995 as a method to help her clients recover from traumatic events. She soon realized that many of her clients were not only suffering from traumas they had personally endured, but they were also suffering from traumas they had inherited, stemming as far back as seven generations. Dr. Gibson has dedicated her life to understanding this phenomenon while developing tools and methods for reconciling these traumatic cycles.
The terminology “somatic” means of the body, and “archaeology” means to excavate. The practice of Somatic Archaeology© is the process of connecting with deep memories stored in the body and bringing them to the surface for reconciliation. This effectively frees the person from the shackles of historical and generational trauma, as well as lightening the load for the next seven generations.
