“Routine is disguised ritual”
This quote (and a bazillion others!) from the “Power of Systems” book Wendy talked about in the latest PCC club call spoke to me this morning.
Ritual has such a different connotation to me. More reverence or something like that. But when I think of that statement “routine is disguised ritual” I’m like, YES. So true!
We created a beautiful ritual on the 14th of each month since our son passed away. It’s called Donut Day. It was one of the best things I did for our family.
But when you think about it, it’s a routine I created. Every month on the 14th we all have a donut, share photos with each other, my daughters work friends buy donuts, and I will share something on social media about Tom. Really it’s a system or a routine I created. But somehow when you call it a ritual it feels different! Funny. 💙
