So, was it all a waste?
I spent a lot of time reading books over the summer. Some of the books were good, and others were not. Some reappearing phrases were: "Schedule your time." "Focus on one thing at a time." "Have a growth mindset." "Remove distractions." "Work now so you can retire later." Yes, this advice is technically right. Yet, you could read a thousand "self-help" books and still learn no more than you did from your first one. Self-help books can be useful, but I will caution you not to read past two or three. The authors of self-help books dangle a prize in front of you and tell you there's only one way to get to it: through implementing their instructions. However, the truth is that none of these authors have figured out life, no matter how they present themselves. There is no universal truth to life: if anything, the only thing that's definite is that life is a paradox. And don't think that I have answers, either, just because I'm writing this. I'm only writing so that I can sort through my own thoughts. "Self-help" books are useful if you're just getting into philosophy, but don't let them stop you from moving on. Self-help books are the equivalent to picture books: you can't learn to read without them, but you also can't stay in the reading-level for years and years. You need to switch to chapter books, and then young adult, and then the classics, etc.

100% Agreed. The entire self-help medium in general has pretty much very similar basic ideas that are great to help you get started in taking control of your life and disciplining yourself, but beyond that its simply superfluous information which won't really productively benefit you anymore. The only thing it will do is make you feel good and think youre doing work and getting better, even though there is pretty much nothing new you have learnt. What's even worse than reading repetitive self-help books is a lot of the self-help content out there on YouTube, which often times teaches you useless stuff. You don't need a 50 step ultra productive morning routine you need to execute perfectly every single day to 100% optimise your day. The only thing that will get you to your goals is actually doing the work itself. What's worse is the "gurus" that try convince you to buy their overpriced courses costing hundreds of dollars when all the information is already out there. Before it was all rebranded as self-help, it was known as philosophy, religion, science.
Happiest day of this year
As some of you may know, I do research on Korea's education system. Though I've been doing it for just less than a month(so relatively new), an unexpected thing happened. I sent an email with a question to a author/professor of a book I was reading, which is titled "Competitive Education is Barbaric". And you know what? He replied. And he wants to make a CALL with me! Now, what does this show? Just last month, I was a non-enthusiastic researcher. But after I was introduced to this community, I was motivated to pursue my own research, which led me to this event happening. I can't hide my excitement... I'm just happy! And I'm sure you guys can achieve this level of success too. Just remember that the faster you start, the better the outcome. Don't hesitate, and keep going forward. UPDATE: I had the call today, and I must say, it was a very motivating experience! But I do have a question. At the end, he said "call me again if you have any more questions", in a kind of hurried way. What do you think this means?

Research project advice
How much time does it take to learn or train a machine-learning program for a research project as a beginner with no experience in machine-learning or programming?

@Syeda Zainab Fatima What subscription did you use? I think stuff like Google colab allows you to utilise their GPU for free but I'm not sure if there are any limitations
