How to increase your vocal range for musical theatre singing
I've heard a lot of folks complaining about how musical theatre rep keeps getting higher and crazier. They right, they right. Here are some relevant tools for your voice and your mind and heart. Who do you know who'd benefit from some some simple myth-busts that would help them free up and organize all parts of their voice? (The outer edge frequencies come later.) Send it along to someone you know it would help.

You said something along the lines of โ€œsinging is a collaboration with your bodies functionโ€ and it just hit differently today. Something about the way you said it made it make sense on a soul level for me.
Singing is Weird
As I'm building the classroom for you, I want to feature some things that are already there -- the 7 mistakes series has some lifesavers in it. I think if we can always remember that singing is weird, then we can get to work and open up to solutions we might not have discovered otherwise. If you're moving energized, emotionally charged vibration through your vocal tract, it's not instinctive to let your pharynx soften and allow the flow on through. It feels like you're Christine Baranski in The Gilded Age or something. So check out this lil 2:30 vid in the classroom to set up this foundation. When was a time when you tried something counterintuitive with your singing that ended up working great?

Singing with RBF (resting b*tch face) always seems to help me navigate resonance more efficiently. The authenticity of the sound isnโ€™t inhibited by too much facial muscular tension (which I tend to be quite expressive)โ€ฆ less is always more
Getting to know you ๐ŸŽถ
Hey Theatre Singer! ๐ŸŽญ Welcome to Dan Callaway Studio -- This community helps theatre singers sing great, audition beautifully, get to work, and create a wholehearted life through top-notch tools. We encourage each other, stoke generosity, and remember there's only one you, and somebody needs to her the story only you can sing. STEP 1: Introduce yourself below! (โœ‚๏ธ copy paste these questions ๐Ÿ‘‡) ๐Ÿ“ Where are you from? and/or Where do you live now? ๐ŸŽต What song(s) are you currently working on? ๐Ÿฆ„ Wave a magic wand and make one thing about your artist life true. What would happen? STEP 2: Read the rules and find out what you can start using in the classroom.

๐Ÿ“ Where are you from? and/or Where do you live now? Born and raised in Elgin, IL (Chicagoland area) Now, I split time between La Crosse, WI and Milwaukee, WI ๐ŸŽต What song(s) are you currently working on? I donโ€™t have any specific songs Iโ€™m working on at the moment. I just finished Bright Star, so was working on that material for a while. Itโ€™s time to grab some new repertoire ๐Ÿฆ„ Wave a magic wand and make one thing about your artist life true. What would happen? Iโ€™m with Rose - autonomy over my ability to perform.
