Growing fitness U12 boys
I’ve used a lot of the kicking drills during the season this year and we got some awesome results from the boys. Improved greatly. Next year I’m taking on the coach roll of U12 boys side and was looking for some fitness drills for the short pre season we have and into the next year.

@Jason Dowling there is one I like to do, which is not only physical but very endurance, Cade said is great for both also but the one I do not only keeps them fit but also uses a drill that they will or should be using every weekend. I will try to explain it here. Its what I call front and centre as well has hitting the target. Min of 9 players 1. 3. 2. 4 . 5. 5 4. 3. 2. 1 1 would kick to 2, while 3 would be front and centre in case ball is brought to ground, if its not brought to ground and is marked 2 would H and pass it to 3, 3 then would kick to 4. 4 would kick to 1 and repeat. This could be as long as you would like, bring in 2, 3 or 4 balls, you can also put cones between 4 and 1 and have them handpass in stead of kicking marked as 5. So many variations you can do with it, also each player moves to spot they have passed it to. Other one I like is speed hand passing 5 players needed. 2 3 1. 4 1 HP to 2, 2 HP back to 1 then they HP it to 3, 1 returns to 2, while 2 receives HP from back from 3 and HP it to 4 then 2 returns to 3 and so on. I try to get kids to run behind play to put Sheppard on before getting ball back. Eg 1 HP to 2 when 2 HP it back they run behind player 1, once they HP ball to 3 they go left back to 2nd place. I hope this makes sense if I get upload a picture I will try to get one for done for you.
Fitness drills for youth girls
Just wanted to know what people use or do for youth girls drills, more to build up fitness and endurance but also with some ball skills as well.

@Josh Growden yeah, I do a lot of short high intensity sprints over 10-20m. I’m not sure I think I have your kicking one.

@Josh Growden Hi Josh, Thank you so much for your help! Last night, I thought I had paid for something, but I can't find any confirmation in my emails, and it doesn't seem to have been charged to my bank account but not sure how I paid for it. Could you please check this on your end? I believe it was related to the training ideas, but I wasn't really focused last night, especially since I had a migraine. This is a great break down video Josh on how to kick the ball but also how to bounce a ball. I’ve use this technique in the past with my kids, specially with bouncing as some kids can’t grasp bouncing from a height so I bring them down to ground lever then move up to standing and running, some pick it up others don’t but they try and that all we can ask. Unfortunately in todays world kids want to do banana kick lol, but I always say if you can do the basic right your 90% there plus back when I played you wouldn’t really on specialty kicks like torpedoes and boomerang or banana kicks.

I’m a Junior & youth coach for my local club, and have been either playing, coaching or participating in some shape of form for a good part of 40 yrs. Always looking for ideas and techniques on how to teach ball control and kicking skills, mainly been in juniors space but have only been in youth for a couple years. So learning more in this space would be good.
