First I want to introduce myself to the group. My name is Ethan, I live in Utah. I have been in sales for 4 years or so now (6 years if you count my church mission). I started out my sales career as an affiliate marketer, selling anything I could from books on amazon to high ticket courses. Thats actually where I met Rodney. After doing that for awhile, I started to see some very shady stuff going on in the affiliate marketing space. I decided that I no longer felt comfortable selling the things I did, and I took a step back from selling in general for several months. After about 8 months I decided I wanted to get back into the sales world, so I took a job going door to door selling roofs. Though the work is challenging, I have never felt more rewarded in my life. I've become a better salesmen and been able to improve my ability to connect with people and solve their problems. When I was an affiliate marketer, all the people I was talking to were just numbers to me. All I looked at was the $$$ that showed up into my account after a pressured someone to buy something that I didn't really believe in, nor did I think this person needed. I would feel ashamed but quickly tell myself that it was okay because I made the sell and thats all that matters. But its not true. You gain more by being sincere with the people you are selling (serving). Trying your best to give them the best solution to the problem they entrusted in you to solve. And by doing that, you may not be able to sell everyone, but you will sell/serve the right people the right way, which leads to more opportunities to do it again and again. Being sincere has been my main focus while selling roofs, and it has paid dividends in the relationships I've made and in my bank account. And the reason sales becomes easier, more fun, and more profitable when you are being sincere is because God never intended for us to manipulate, ignore or be pushy towards our fellow brothers and sisters. We were put on this earth to serve and love one another. And when we serve and love our fellow men, Gods blesses us in ways we cant even imagine.
