While Project Management is an allied and Ancillary function to Product Management, but without the tactile support of Project Management, PRDs are not likely to see the light of the day. As a hiring manager, I want to know *how* you think, not what you know! 🤔 5 Mistakes that will get you rejected in a PM interview: 1. Lack of excitement Your energy sets the tone. If you're not excited or engaged, neither am I. Lack of enthusiasm will hurt your chances of success. Show me you're happy and tell my why! 2. Ineffective communication and bad structure If your answers are not easy to understand, I will lose interest. Dear Sid Ji, I understand how value judgments like "if you cannot help explain or make understand any concept to a 6 years old at his level of exposure, then, you are not skilled enough" influences popular culture. I also accept Tony Robbins quote unquote - "Complexity is the Enemy of Execution" at least from human brain's view of things as against AI managed complexity. But if we are surely concerned in knowing Why question and Why question implies value judgment or thought process, and Why also implies strategic objective or imperative of the choice - and if choice is about "playing to Win" or find traction and acceptance then among myriad "complex needs" and cutting thru all these within the prioritization arithmetic, I would certainly believe - those require complex thinking - first order impact, second order impact etc., and what I am little blank about this is if we are constrained to rationalize our choices, then the principle first outlined above like being skilled enough to help the 6 years old understand and have their buy-ins (metaphorically child means emotional interiors of people). Viewed from all these backdrop, while I innately understand that your advise is for IC roles, but someone with years of experience, will naturally come with lot of baggage, so deciding a decision tree is fraught with certain foundational challenges in the new environment. But imagine that person is doing a pivot from a different areas of expertise to Product role or such other roles - the dictum "If you answers are too complicated, I will not follow" doesn't it give an impression that their weight of experience and how prioritization itself is such a complex algorithm is not given right of place? Incidentally, I read this opinion piece of Mr.Mironov(https://www.mironov.com/pm_is_political/). I have been there, I work in a role and function taken over by the acquirer company and the power imbalances, struggles, my developer requirements being submerged, my current role also includes clearing the messiness of development affecting the claims, nominee entitlements of group insurance claims and because those development have completely bye-passed me even if the environment on which the acquirer company introduced the features were premised on the interface that I was overseeing. All these things naturally complicate things. It is because I have better institutional memory I could placate the legacy effects of the bugs caused by the merged features.

FOP 2.0 Week 1 Discussion [4 Steps of PM]
Product management requires us to do a lot of tasks. These tasks vary depending on seniority, company maturity, product maturity, goals, etc. However, all of the tasks that we do can be rolled up into these 4 steps. It doesn't matter if you're a CPO or APM, you're doing 1 or more things that roll up to these 4 larger buckets. At least that is how I have thought of my role as a PM for a long time. I would love to understand if you think differently, or if you have experienced product management any differently than what you see from this diagram. Share your thoughts in replies below.

@Sid Arora : For sometime now, the KEN online journal have been sounding out that PM has been reduced to a science function and art part is given second fiddle or even considered not safe, which is understandable given that our focus is on OKRs and KPIs. Hello to everyone! aRyaN Thandri from Chennai. I am about to complete 30 years of worklife in another few months. In all these years I have settled for lower hanging fruits and low ball offers. In addition, I am a deaf person. In terms of structured experience, I have been representing M/s.Shriram Finance Group in their Group Life Insurance process as Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for 10 years now. This is my current visibility and from here I am thinking of Pivot to PM side. In service of this intention, I have already earned a Completion Certificate from IIM Indore through their edtech partner Jigsaw-uNext in PM. I focused on non-tech product as my project in that IIM Course. I wanted to equip and augment my thinking skills for Digital Products. PM is not my destiny. PM is my gateway to the wider marketplace to play the bigger game, perhaps as a late bloomer. I am harping on JAPM to make myself ready to land into the wider marketplace.

@Debojyoti Dey : Kindly explore Tech Simplified, a book by Mr Deepak Singh. Available in Amazon. Not sure about Kindle edition though. I have not yet gone inside that material. But Author asserts this book is for non-techies to ease into this.

I am planning to Pivot to PM side from Operations side, perhaps as a late bloomer after 30 years in the generic work. PM is my gateway to marketplace.
