The Formula to $5K+ PER MONTH as an Editor (It's simple)
Gents, I know many of you want to level up your editing income and start landing higher-paying YouTuber clients... So here is a straightforward, actionable approach to make that happen: Select this text below, copy it, paste it into a notes app as a checklist, and go down the list. Repeat Steps: 2, 3, & 4 for each client you put on your list in Step 1. 1. Target the Right Channels 🎯 (MOST IMPORTANT STEP) - Do not be afraid of larger YouTubers. Focus on YouTubers with 100K-1M+ subscribers. They often have the budget, but may not have a full-time editor yet, or if they have an editor, oftentimes you can come in and edit better. - Look for creators who are consistently posting but whose editing you could improve on. You can spot this by looking at their video quality and making a list of mistakes they're making in their content, that could be affecting retention and leading to fewer views. - Create a list of 10-20 of these YouTubers with 2-3 mistakes/things that could be better for each. Make sure you'd be able to fix the mistakes if given the opportunity. 2. Create a Value-Driven Cold Email Outreach 🌟 - Follow the formula: Compliment, Case Study, Call To Action. - Compliment: Start by genuinely complimenting something specific about their channel. Make it personal to the YouTuber & genuine. - Mini Case Study: Re-edit one of their recent videos to show how you can improve it. Identify 2-3 key mistakes or areas of improvement and explain how your approach enhances their content. You can also reference existing clients you've helped reach X result (increased views/subscribers) in Y days/months. - Include a link to your portfolio (Only show relevant videos to the client.) - Call to Action: End with a question, like, "I have some more ideas for how I can help improve your videos, mind if I send some times over to chat?" 3. Showcase Your Work Strategically 🎥 - Build a portfolio that highlights before-and-after transformations. Show how your editing improved retention, engagement, views, subscribers, or just the overall vibe of the video. - Include a mix of different content styles to show versatility but make sure it’s relevant to the niche of the YouTuber you’re targeting. (Example: If you're targeting an educational YouTuber who does long-form, you don't want to be showing short-from entertainment content.)

That was a great read. Killer advice with a step by step instruction. Love that it is so specific thanks Norman!
Experience is More Important than Money… At First
As a beginner editor starting to learn the game of editing, many people want to make their first dollar and cash out WAY quicker than they should 🫵 When you’re just starting out… you don’t have enough experience under your belt to be able to charge the high prices that the top 1% percent of editors can charge. It’s harder to definitively say “you can edit somebody’s video better and get them better results” if you don’t have the experience of editing videos better. So when starting out, it’s more important to get EXPERIENCE editing for actual clients rather than only focusing on the MONEY 💰 So while you may be doing a lot of work for very little amount of money or no money at all 🤏 … The experience you are gaining is much more worth it than the money you are earning. ⏰ When I started shooting music videos back in 2020, my first 3 music videos I shot were all for free… Shot, directed, and edited by me for FREE. But after that… someone who was a friend of the artist I was shooting for saw me working and asked: “Yo bro how much you charge?” I didn’t know what to say at the time because I had never been paid for what I was doing before… And so my first thought was “Does $100 work?” Not even a split second went by before he reached out his hand, shook my hand firmly and said “let’s do it” From that moment on my self-confidence and self belief SKYROCKETED 🚀 because it was tangible proof that my skill set was something that people are willing to pay for… And even though it’s just $100… I knew that if I can make $100, I can make $1000. And if I can make $1000, I can make $5000, and so on. So in the beginning, those first three free videos that I shot were all for experience 📈 and even the one I got paid $100 for was mainly for experience but I got a lil buck for it too 💰 With these free videos, you figure out all the little hurdles that you didn’t expect going into it… And since they’re free videos, or for very cheap, the expectations of producing an amazing video are a lot lower than if you were getting paid a higher amount immediately.

Streaming Overlay like Loom
Hey everyone! I am about to start making some feedback videos where I talk over content that I screenrecord kinda like Loom videos. Since I don't want to subscribe to another monthly payment service I was thinking about setting up OBS and upload the video after it is done to Youtube and set it to unlisted. What do you guys think about the idea and can I make my webcam feed on top of the screenrecording in a circular shape like Loom videos? Loom example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pJaW2V0RbM

@Oscar Zechner my question was more about if a circle overlay is possible and if it makes sense to use OBS like Loom or if I am seeing it is not possible. When it comes to straming/OBS I am still a noob :D
