Wanted to update you guys on what happened with my first onboarding call with a potential client. The result was.. we didn't get a close. At least, not yet. I will be booking another meeting with him to discuss again on if he's committed to paying. This was the same person I offered my free services for and got a great testimonial, so it was a lot more comfortable talking with him on call. Since my offer is a high-ticket service, he was very hesitant to follow through with it. Understandably so. But here are some lessons learned through out the call that I think others can benefit from: - Your first call will not always give you results Like me, you're most likely not going to get a close off of your first sale. Like Alex Hormozi says, "train for the no". It would be delusional to think that you will hit the ground running with closes right off the bat. I had a slight suspicion that he was going to say no given that it was my first time. There are also other reasons behind that, which we will get to in the next lesson. - Target the right people. This is why market research and the demographics of your audience are important! The main reason why my potential client did not close is that he is a college student. College students aren't the best with money, especially when they don't have a job. You may be able to offer lower ticket services or one-time payments to people like that, but good luck trying to offer $500/month+ service to someone who struggles to pay rent. This isn't to give offense to people with that position, I've been there myself. - Don't force the sale on someone who can't commit. You don't want to have a sneaky salesman approach. Make it as genuine of a conversation as possible like you're talking with a friend. I was glad to have that conversation with him, even if we didn't close, because we both treated it like we were bros. - Don't lose hope It's not the end of the world if you don't close. All you can do is learn from your own experience, get back on the horse and move on. You cannot lose if you don't give up.
