Hey I'm Caleb, a freelance drummer based in Berkshire/Surrey, just finishing up my last year of studying drums at ACM Guildford. I hope to be able to make a living from this instrument and i'm aware that will come through several different ways: teaching, playing, managing, teching etc. I currently play for a few artists in and around London in small venues, play regularly at my church, dep for bands (mainly cover bands) around the country, and teach 1 student. The hope is to build several income streams so that I can begin sufficiently earning, if you will, from the drums! My hope would be to land a pop gig, where its tight playing, and requires hybrid application (SPD's + triggers etc). I'd love to do some touring and get the experience whilst having a great time. I'm gearing myself towards this industry by learning Ableton and diving deeper into my knowledge/application of the SPD-SX.
Digital Packaging As a Musician Part 1: CV/Resume
The music industry can feel like a house party that you weren't invited to. We’ve all seen those Hollywood films where the nerds climb over the fence to get a peek. There are definitely some things you can do from behind your computer screen to help strengthen your connections and gain greater visibility. The four most useful pieces of digital information a musician can have are: - CV/Resume - Show Reel - A stellar email requesting to be considered for opportunities - Headshots In this post we will be focusing on the CV/Resume. Attached is a guide on how to lay your performance CV out and some additional points to consider. Is there some place to upload my completed CV? Unlike the corporate world, there is nowhere to upload your CV. At best, this is printed out and given to someone at an audition or simply attached as an email attachment. Any questions comment below and feel free to attach your CV for tailored feedback and ways to improve it!
