Back after a bit of a hiatus – time for an update!
So, I started my own community at $9/mo, and we hit 140 members faster than I expected. Not bad, right? The original plan was to increase the price as we hit certain milestones. I tried that – bumped it to $19 at 100 members. And… yeah, let’s just say that didn’t exactly drive demand. So, back to $9 it went, but without any urgency, churn started kicking in. Then I had a new idea: announce a time-based increase. On **October 1st, we moved up to $49**, and that brought in a fresh wave of members while slowing down churn. Now, I’m sticking with time-based changes: on December 1st, the price will rise to $99. (Note to self: FOMO wins every time.) And here’s the big move: with Skool’s private feature, I’m introducing a high-ticket $5K Done-With-You service exclusively for coaches, creators, and agency owners. It’s designed to complement the $9/mo group, so everyone has options that fit their needs and goals. What I’ve learned so far: 1. Time-based price increases work wonders – FOMO doesn’t just apply to product scarcity; timing can do the trick. 2. High-ticket offers within your community are gold – as long as they align, they create added value without overwhelming the main group. 3. Experiment, experiment, experiment – pricing isn’t one-size-fits-all. Trying different strategies helps you find what resonates with your audience. In short: be flexible with your pricing and don’t be afraid to sell high within your community – if it’s complementary, it’s a win-win!

We recently raised our membership fee from $9/mo to $19/mo. Early assumptions include: 1. Slower new membership rates. 2. Existing members are locking in their $9 rate, fearing future increases. Have you raised prices in your community? What were the effects?

@Harry Freeman I just posted an update. Start it at $9, then keep these as your founding members, give them this price forever, so they stay, then increase to $19, or $29, --- I tried this, it worked, my new price is $49.
Thought It Was Useless Until...
On March 19th, I launched a community with my business partner, Craig Dean. Our goal was to help people build their LinkedIn presence. We wanted our community members to attract the right audience and handpick the clients they wanted to help. From March 19th to April 19th, our community grew like crazy. We were among the top 600 business communities on Skool. Over 150 people joined us at $9 per month. By mid-April, we noticed something. We were putting too much effort into a $9 community. It wasn't growing as quickly as we hoped. So, from April 19th to May 19th, we took our foot off the gas. We didn't push as hard. Then, something unexpected happened. Towards the end of May, Craig said, "Hey mate, did you notice something? All the clients we are getting are from the community." I was stunned and started tracking the clients. Here's what we noticed: -> 1st client from the community. -> 2nd client from the community. -> 3rd client from the community. -> 4th client from the community. -> 5th client from the community. One after another, clients from our community began signing up for our services. By June, over 90% of our paid clients came from the community. They sought our services for profile optimization, lead capturing systems, brand identity, websites, and automation. At that point, we were both amazed by the results. The conclusion here is simple. Keep doing what you are doing, even when you don't see immediate results. It takes time, but persistence pays off, and the results might just surprise you. ❤️🙏

Starting a community can be a strategic move, but the decision to start with a free or paid community depends on your current situation. If you have no personal brand, no audience, no followers, or platform—essentially if you're starting fresh—a free community can be ideal. It helps build trust and engagement before transitioning to a paid model. However, if you already have a personal brand and some audience, you can start with a paid community. For example, I launched a $9/month paid community in March and had over 150 members in the first month. Today, we have 146 members. When we reached 150 members, we shifted focus to higher-ticket offerings like profile optimization and lead generation. By June, 90% of our clients came from the community. Many joined in March, saw our value, and eventually decided to work with us. In conclusion, if you have an audience ready to be monetized, start with a paid community. If you're starting from scratch, begin with a free one. We're now considering a free community to attract a larger audience that could transition to our paid community.

Start with a free Community
Hello everyone, I want to illustrate the importance of a free community with this game plan. Many who are new to Skool wonder whether they should start directly with a paid community to quickly make money, or if a free community would be better at the beginning. If you are aiming for long-term success, I definitely recommend starting with a free community. Once you reach about 100 members there, you can slowly build a paid community. The free community usually generates the most inquiries and commitments for the paid community. If you start directly with a paid community, you miss the chance to gain members through the free community. Additionally, through the discovery search in Skool, you automatically and constantly receive new members for your free community (for free), who can later transition into the paid community. When we reached 150 members, I realized that maintaining a low-ticket paid community wasn't as rewarding for the effort involved. So, we shifted our focus to our higher-ticket offerings like profile optimization, lead generation systems, and website building, mainly helping creators and coaches. Interestingly, by June, around 90% of our clients came from our community. Many of them joined in March, saw the value we provided over time, and eventually decided to work with us. In conclusion, if you have an audience ready to be monetized, go for a paid community from the start. If you're building from scratch, a free community is the way to go. That said, we are now considering a free community to attract a larger audience that could later join our paid community.
