I’ve started a new series of paintings progressing my exploration of Brutalist visual motifs. The new work features a surface divided into smaller pictographs which I think of as a glossary or lexicon. In terms of the painting/compositional theory, this is the first time I’ve introduced anything resembling a repeated pattern. Overall it is a more abstract set of shapes yet it looks more ordered than some of my previous “could almost be a building” compositions. So far an interesting new avenue to explore, hopefully I get a decent collection of paintings out of it!

Built exhibition - Ilkley
This and a few other paintings are on show in Ilkley as part of a group show called ‘BUILT’ - highly recommended as I’m lucky enough to be amongst a whole host of great artist there! Tinker Gallery Ilkley (opposite the art supplies shop)

Etching
My new etching based on drawings and photographs taken from the Candletower in August, is finally completed. I am calling it “ All change here” as the view will already have significantly altered from when we were there.
