Introducing myself
Hi, I’m Eleanor from Christchurch, New Zealand. I would love to run a marathon one day and I had better not wait too long because I’m already 61 years old. I normally run 3 or 4 half marathons a year but stepping up to a full seems very daunting. My longest run was just over a week ago at 25.5km. I love the idea of running the 9 mile way but am yet to fully follow the training.

Thanks, Marlies. I love that you only need to run 9 miles in training. I ran the 25.5 in an event. I’m finding it hard to believe I can run 42.2 because a half hurts so much. I think, slow as I am, I don’t run slow enough. I’m hoping that if I work on strength, flexibility, adding in slow runs, and maybe race day nutrition and hydration I will be able to complete a full without seizing up and ending up running 20km in agony. I can run 10km in 75min so am just in the zone for this working for me. I will have a look at your program. 😊

I’m 61 years old and live in New Zealand. I’m planning to run my first marathon in November.
