*BMN Exclusive* How to get verified on Instagram
Hello all, I’m here to bring a Brandman Network exclusive on how to get verified on Instagram. I know the blue checkmark is highly coveted for musicians especially on Instagram, and wanted to breakdown the process of what it takes and also dispel any misconceptions regarding the verification process as well. I’ll keep this guide short and sweet for now, and will add detail as I see fit throughout. Let’s get right into it! Quick facts: - As of 2020, about 3% of accounts are verified on Instagram - Instagram describes verification as “The verified badge is a tool to help people find the real accounts of public figures and brands, and it means we verified this is a notable and authentic Instagram account. A verified badge is not a symbol to show importance, authority, or subject matter expertise.” - The reality of it is, verification REQUIRES press, not X amount of followers or likes. This is why you can see politicians/local entities/news reporters with very small follower counts with verification badges. We’ll be going over press requirements in this article. Estimated Costs: Press - $1000-5000 (3-5 weeks) Submission $0 - $5k (3-4 weeks) ETA: 6-8 weeks Press: Generally speaking, the quality and quantity of press you have will determine your chances of being verified on Instagram. Instagram weighs seo-optimized, google indexed, non-sponsored posts the most. Don’t get it twisted though, the majority of press can be bought. You’ll notice that the price range for verification is very wide, and that’s because depending on your current amount of press and what publications you’re going for, your need for additional press is varied. For verification, you want to aim for at least 7-15 quality publications. High quality sources of press include: Yahoo Finance, Lyrical Lemonade, Ear Milk, Wikipedia, Google Knowledge Panel, Famous Birthdays, etc. Most of the press packages you’ll find are resellers of the same sources. I have a list of direct sellers, let me know if you need direct sources 🙂

I would have some questions regarding that. I'm a Indy Artist - and I've had multiple Media Coverage, I even was on the Cover of a Magazine - and I would link those everytime I tried to get verified, however my offer would be declined from IG - what could I do to optimize this?

How Important is a Marketing Expert on your Team?
Hello BMN Community, Whats Poppin' ? My name is Giovanni Sokic, I'm a Rapper/Singer by the name of "Gavis Dean" and I'm from Austria in Europe. I've been watching BMN videos on YouTube for a couple of years, so it's really dope to see that the platform got build into a community. Congrats to Sean and Korey on all that they were able to build within these years. With my post I also wanted to add to this platform and to ask a question regarding Team building and maybe get some opinions on this topic. How beneficial is it as an Artist to learn all aspects of the marketing themselves vs adding a Team member specifically designed to focus on the marketing aspect of the Artist/brand. Especially with todays market where there is such a emphasise on self promotion. - Is it smarter to become the "Marketing Expert" yourself OR - Do you need the perspective of a Person who only focuses on being a Marketing Expert? Love, Giovanni

Indie v. Major
Hey! What’s your take on signing with a major label versus going independent? Thoughts anyone?

Hey Rory. I wanted to give some perspectives on it. As I have been doing this Independently for some years but I got some people that I know that are Signed. I think alot of time in todays day and age the Major Labels get a bad rep. But what I've seen is, for most Artists to go big its necessary to be signed to a Major, as it opens them up for a lot of Industry Placements ( Interviews , Artist building etc) that you may not be able to get if your Indy. The emphasis on building a Artist is much stronger. When your Indy you have a lot more freedom of the direction you want things to go, however I noticed - thats not the best for a lot Artists as they may not be so well rounded with the other Positions that are needed to succeed doing it Indy. Either way the best case scenario is : Build a strong Team, and keep adding valuable Players to the team. Treat it like a business regardless. Once you have that established - you can move accordingly and see whats fits your Situation the best. "It costs to be the boss". Rich the Kid for example was Indy for a couple of years, but now Signed with Atlantic (if I'm not mistaken). So Yes the Russ Method can work of doing it all indy, but I think joining forces at some point in your career can be really beneficial.
