For me, it seems like my automation ideas are always more difficult to implement than I'm expecting. So many edge cases and bugs to fix. It reminds me of my software development days. It took a lot of effort to get my website form fill integrated with ServiceTitan, but it's working beautifully for now. The experience developing that one has me starting to consider the ROI on each new automation that I dream up. I'm also concerned about how much future work will be required when APIs are updated and automations are broken. Will it all be worthwhile in the end? Definitely applying the 80/20 rule for new automation ideas.
Quick Automation Tip
Set up an automation to generate reports on your key business metrics and have them emailed to you regularly. This keeps you informed without manual effort.

Sounds cool. I just have to get all my data cleaned up so the business metrics are accurate πŸ˜‚
E-mails sent from Zapier?
Hey all, what's the right way to go about sending an email as part of a zap? For example, if we want to send an email to someone on staff letting them know details on a certain automation within their scope of work when human follow-up is needed, how should that be done? So far, it seems like e-mails can only be sent from the Zapier author's email address - is that how everyone does it? I was thinking we might have a separate email account, i.e. automation@mycompany.com so people know when they're getting an email from a zap. We're on Outlook / Office365.

@Tersh Blissett , yes we ended up creating a new Outlook email address, connecting it to Zapier, and sending the emails from that.

We've got some new zaps up and running that are saving office time. One zap sends a Docusign form for jobs that are sales tax exempt to the customer for signing when the job is completed in ServiceTitan. We're working on another complimentary zap to take the signed PDF and upload it to ServiceTitan as a job attachment. These zaps will make sure all our documentation is in order next time we are audited by the state. Another new zap is taking customer requests from our website form (Gravity Forms), filtering out spam with AI, sending an apology email if the customer is out of our service area, searching for the customer in ServiceTitan if they're in our service area, adding a new customer and location record in ServiceTitan if they're new, and assigning a ServiceTitan task to our CSR to follow up on the request. This one took a lot of work, and includes a Google Maps address verification so that all the location filters work.
Google Cloud Console
Today I signed up for Google Cloud Console because I want to access the Google Maps address validation tool from Gravity Forms. If anyone has done this, do you have any recommendations or advice?

Grew up in the electrical trade working with my dad. I worked in software development for a time before rejoining the family business.
