Our words matter. The Bible says the power of death or life is in our tongue. Blessings or curses. How often do we reflect on the words we say about ourselves? The enemy's number one tactic is to use your insecurities, past failures, and shortcomings against you, the very words you say when you think when no one is around, in the comfort of your own home, or in the confines of a close relationship. Side note- Venting or lamenting are not healthy outlets. The world taught us that you will feel better after a good cry or after phoning a friend and venting. You are just giving the darkness ammunition to work against you and it is not productive in bringing healing, peace, and prosperity. Go to God in prayer instead with a posture of honesty and humility and be amazed. The words we speak about ourselves, our situation, and our circumstances have weight and actually influence our destiny. That is why the term "power of positive thinking" is so popular in modern day culture. So, how do we think more positively about ourselves? We learn to believe what God says about us and speak His truth over our life and circumstances, regardless of how we feel or how things look in the natural at the current moment. We thank God for His written word, that is active and alive today, and the work that He is doing. We thank Him in advance for working all things for the good of the called ... it's all for His glory. He has given us the power to speak life and truth over every negative thought, insecurity, and lie so we can walk in freedom as daughters of God, choosing to walk by faith not by sight. I have built this practice into my daily prayer routine. Every day, as I put on the full armor of God, Ephesians 6, I choose to put on my belt of truth and carry His word as my sword. I speak truth over my life, and who God says I am. - I am a daughter of the one true King. - I am chosen and set apart. I am a part of a royal priesthood, and I have an inheritance in heaven. - Greater is He that is in me and he that is in the world. - When I am weak, He is strong. His grace is sufficient in me, His power is made perfect in weakness. - I am more than a conqueror through Him, who loves me. - No weapon formed against me will prosper. No evil will come near me. - For the Lord God is with me wherever I go. - - I notice that when I speak these words and believe them to be true, I hold my head a little higher, walking in the confidence of who God says that I am, a beloved, daughter in the family of God. I also noticed that the enemy has no foothold in my mind and in my circumstances when I speak this way.
