Stock Watch / Investment
I have just starting investing in a stock ticker symbol AGNC. I am testing the waters. This stock has returned strong Dividends over the last 6 months. They also pay a monthly dividend.

Weekends
So, I'm not an expert but some stocks and markets drop in value on Monday morning. This is a general thing and not guaranteed to hapen every weekend. People freak out over the weekend because they can't see if their stocks are growing. So, they make sales on Monday. If the market can be swayed by a weekend then maybe in the short-term you sell on Friday mornings and buy on Monday afternoon.

I have yet to sell a stock, it's so long term for me. I am contemplating selling 2 and have alerts set up that if they reach a certain point I will then make the decision to do so or not. Anything in the Market now until November 5th is going to be so over reactive. Then until next year when we know who the new President is and everyone settles back down. I have a feeling the upcoming year markets are going to recover ok but not great. Human nature to hit the panic button, then read what's going on.
Dividend Funds!
Dividend funds give you a little bit more protection because you have many stocks in the fund. Lower or slower sways in value because you are more diversifid in the fund.

I do need to research more funds that pay as well. One of my goals is to get my business excess cash that is just sitting into a hedge fund and perhaps get investors to come along as well. Right now I have a diversified ish portfolio but single companies. I try to stick to REIT's or Energy but have swayed for a few companies with a STRONG history.

@Ian Hopfe that is great. A diverse portfolio is a good way to go. Do they give you a breakdown of what they are invested in?

@Ian Hopfe you are on that track I am on. Invest it and let it be. So many over react to a down market. Just trust in it and let it grow. It's a hard thing to do but so effective.
What is your why?
I look forward to getting to know you all and learn what your reason for investing is? Mine is so that my family will be good to go when the good Lord decides it's my day.
