1 Commission = Multiple Streams $$$ of Income (Boat Art!!!)
Here's a sneak peek into the biz model that makes a LOT of money off of one artwork - Drew Brophy and I developed this model over 20 years ago! It's where we take one painting and get multiple streams of income $$$ from it. It starts like this: Drew gets a commission for a specific usage (painting, or illustration for a poster, or in the example below, for artwork to print on the side of a boat)! We consider how we can maximize every-single-artwork! In this case, the client, Tim, from Florida, wanted crazy fish art for the side of his boat. At first, he wanted to use existing art (it would have been a lot cheaper), but, it didn't work because of the shape of the boat. So we suggested, "Why don't you commission a painting on canvas, that you can hang in your home. We will shoot it, adjust the files and send them to your boat wrap guy, and then ship you the painting?" He agreed - and here's how we maximized the sale: Original painting cost $7,500 (see photo below) Graphic work for the boat design $1,800 Art printed on 3 dozen beach towels for the client $1,200 The client paid $10,500 so far. And now we make more $$$ this way: Art Print Drop of the art to the public: Potential for the next month sales = $10,000 (we just dropped it) Next five years: Possibly another $50,000 in revenues There will be more uses for this art where we earn even more: Blankets Stickers (pull characters out and make individual stickers) Many other products EVEN IF YOUR ART LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THIS CRAZY ART, you can do a similar business model for every painting. (Actually, especially if your art isn't this crazy :) There are some paintings where we have leveraged it to $250,000 over ten years. Your art is truly a money making machine, if you want it to be. And, look at how many people it will bring joy to! What do you think of this business model? Have you done anything similar? Let me know in the comments below! PS: In my upcoming Mastermind, I'll be teaching exactly how to do this. And, how to get your clients excited, knowing that their art is going to be famous :)
