The hardest part of cold email is separating the truth from the noise.
Here's the 5 lies you've been told: (that cost me $100,000+) 1. Personalize As Much As Possible Using AI to personalize emails helps to increase results... But ONLY if you: - Use it well - Use it in moderation You aren't fooling anyone with automated looms because of a customized thumbnail. And while personalized lines work great? More variables equal more risk of getting something wrong. 2. Forward All Secondary Domains I'm guilty of this myself. I used to think, like everyone else, that forwarding secondary domains to your 1st domain was standard and safe. But it turns out, this is a huge liability. Think about it... When Google sees that 100 domains are ALL being forwarded to 1 site? Huge red flag. Instead: Use EmailGuard(.io) to mask secondary domains, avoiding detection. 3. Use Identical Mailboxes I've seen many cold emailers get flagged because their mailboxes were 100% identical. And it makes sense... If you saw 10 "Jay Feldmans" in a single company, what would you think? Well Google & Microsoft think the same. The solution: Use AI to create customized names and images for each mailbox. 4. Always Use a Core Offer If your core offer isn't competitive & boring using it in the 1st email can work. Otherwise, it's unlikely the market won't respond to it well (or at all). Instead: Figure out what alternative offer or lead magnet you can use that will get responses. Also, when it comes to lead magnets? Remember: If it doesn't cost you a high amount of time or money, it isn't good enough. 5. Track Open Rates Sorry, but there's no reason to. Not only does this lower deliverability, it doesn't even give you accurate data. Sadly, Google & other spam filters open your email and add to the count. It's much better to simple check reply rates and optimize for them instead. - - Found this post helpful? Comment "Yes"
