What is a SINGLE??
To me a single is whatever you deem a single to be. Something to play in the clubs/radio that's catchy and has potential to become popular. I don't necessarily agree with that these days understanding that artists can literally breakout in many ways with the rise of the internet and these apps. I'm here to ask the community, what is considered a single these days? I'm not about pushing my artists to do tiktok type songs just to break into the industry, but is that something that needs to be done?

Singles vs Projects: What are your thoughts?
I know EVERYONE says drop singles because "nobody" is trying to listen to multiple songs from a new artist. I think it's a double edged sword because if a real fan discovers you then they don't have much more to dive into. On the other side, with a single you can focus your marketing dollars on 1 song. You run the risk of it being the "wrong" song instead of a project where there's multiple songs where the fans and data will show you which one should be the "single".

@MacheXe L I love this take. My thinking is the same. Especially starting out. I see giving your all to everything will help you figure out what's working for you and what makes the most sense.

I think they both matter, but it depends on your approach. To me its about staying consistent and building momentum. I like the approach of releasing 4 EPs a year (1 each quarter) and having 1or 2 singles releasing between those drops. Whatever works for your strategy at the end of the day.
College Radio PDF
A friend of mine has had some success with breaking artists on the college radio in the past. He mentioned that acts like Mims and Bonecrusher garnering substantial buzzes on the college radio scene. Since college radio isn't controlled by the payola system that governs most terrestrial radio and Top 40 stations, the independents have a better shot at pushing their singles on these stations. I've included a Free Download of an updated College Radio PDF for anybody who wants it. The game is to be uploaded and shared with the homies

This is great & right on time for me. I appreciate you!
Where do you do most of your networking with other artists?
Was watching this KTO Interview with this artist named Lunchbox, and he mentioned that early on he was in a Twitter group chat where he met a bunch of artists including Yeat, Summrs, and KanKan. (Video Linked below) Have any of you had success with building communities on twitter? How do you go about finding other artists to work and build with?

Most of my networking has been shooting music videos, designing logos or shooting photos for artists over the years. This always kept me in studios, artists inviting me to events, tours or my work itself spreading to other artists that's paying attention to them and reach out to me for work themselves. Somehow whoever I'm around it always gets out that I have some knowledge on how they can move or do something music wise, then they find out I do music, then everything sort of clicks without me having to ever push the music on them right out the gate. The relationship was built by me adding value to them.
