@Trish Gent amen! All of the literature on burnout and nurse stress is broad and generalized. Thatā€™s why I feel we need our own space, unencumbered by politics or facility culture etc. Youā€™re going to be a great asset here!

@Trish Gent ill have to look these up.
Letting Go by David R Hawkins, MD PhD
I wish the book was called "Let it Be". I think what he really means is "let go of control", not, "let the feeling go away", strictly speaking. This is aligned with everything I've learned through research and it really does work for me. The goal of an emotion, from a survival standpoint, is survival. The limbic system is giving you information in the form of an emotion (the main language spoken by the mammal brain), and because it's charged with keeping you alive, it will keep banging loudly until you let it know the message has been received and considered. It really is that simple. And hard šŸ¤£ Dr Hawkins is an MD and a Psychiatrist. Hereā€™s a quote from the book: ā€œEverything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedomsā€”to choose oneā€™s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose oneā€™s own wayā€

This is a tough question for me. Iā€™m not sure if I would, but then I remember being able to save a life or receiving a genuine thank you from a patient or family memberā€¦.
Discover your strength- the power of community
As a passionate advocate for nurse wellness and entrepreneurship, Iā€™m dedicated to helping healthcare professionals rediscover balance, fulfillment, and purpose. After experiencing the pressures and burnout that so many nurses face, I knew there was a better way to live a meaningful life without sacrificing health and happiness. I have dozens of friends who are nurses, and when I ask them, 'Would you choose nursing as a profession again?' the overwhelming response has been no. It's disheartening to hear this from people who entered the field with so much passion and dedication, but itā€™s a reflection of the immense stress, burnout, and lack of support so many nurses face today. I created this community to support all nurses in managing stress, practicing mindfulness, and exploring alternative career paths that allow them to leverage their skills in ways that reduce burnout. Whether through self-reflection, finding a place to safely vent, ā€œmeetingā€ others who are having the same issue, discovering new entrepreneurial opportunities outside of traditional healthcare, or simple stress-relief techniques, my mission is to guide nurses toward reclaiming their joyā€”both in their personal and professional lives. Together, we can break free from the pressures of traditional healthcare roles, find our own paths to wellness, and make a living doing what we love.

This from ANA seems very generalized. Where are the real experiences?
I came across this article from the ANA about nurse burnout, but it feels very general. Where are the real tips, the personal stories, and the experiences we can learn from? Burnout is such a serious issue, and we need to hear more success stories, real challenges, and practical solutions that have worked. Nurses, what has helped you? What are your strategies for overcoming burnout? Letā€™s share and learn from each other! Everything on nurse burnout and stress seems to have the same ā€œvagueā€ information. Letā€™s get real! https://www.nursingworld.org/content-hub/resources/workplace/what-is-nurse-burnout-how-to-prevent-it/

@Ginger Branson agree! Itā€™s all the same verbiage. The burnout is awful post-covidTo find real answers from real people.Thatā€™s why I felt the ā€œcallā€ to start this community. Should we include a category/discussion on nurse bullying?

@Ginger Branson Iā€™ve experienced bullying at just about every job Iā€™ve had. Now that I understand borderline and narcissistic personalities, I know how to deal with them.
