My story, background and why Fusion 360. Learning and my Goals for using it.
I have always liked working with my hands and making things. I have a home shop with a welder, plasma cutter, metal press and brake and assorted tools to make things. I also have a small home machine shop with a mill and a metal lathe. So, I can do lots of different things and love making tools and parts. That being said, I got into laser cutters/engravers last year and started with a small diode. It was fun, useful and a learning experience. But, I want to do more, so I bought a used K40 CO2 laser recently. It needs many upgrades to make it very useable for the things that I want to do. One of those upgrades is an adjustable Z axis bed. There aren't any commercially available so, I'm on the road to building my own and I'll add power to mine. But to do so, I need printed parts and mounts. That's where 3D printing comes in. After playing a bit I decided that I better learn how to use CAD and make my own designs and parts. So, here I am. And after only the first 5 Fusion 360 courses I have already figured out how to design and print some of the parts I need. Good on Brandon for setting up such a great community and the lessons on Fusion are great.
