Video
I posted a new video today and I tried to incorporate a couple different things. 1. All of the feedback I received from the last video about adding more commentary throughout the video to explain/remind the viewer of the end goal for the video. 2. More explanation/detail in the intro to make it feel like part of the story and less "youtube fast paced." and 3. I wanted to try something a little new to my channel. I've been struggling a little getting content out because the recording process and editing takes so long with over 24 hours of footage to get through. So I split it up into two parts and built in a little teaser at the end of this one for next weeks post. Let me know any thoughts you have throughout the video or thumbnail. But also share any opinions you have on the 2 part video.

Anyone running their own discord?
What challenges did you face that you wish you had known about before you started?

I've had a discord server for a couple of years. Definitely much more useful when you're streaming/doing challenges with viewers. It's a great way to get the community together and make it seem more connected. I think the most important thing is finding people within your community who know more than you about discord and getting their help to build yours up. Finding these mods for your server can be difficult but once you find the right ones it will make your server 10x better in the long run.
Feedback on this video
So, I have really improved my "song and story" videos because of the feedback here, so thank you. Here is a new one.Im trying to maintain interest in the first 30 seconds so what I have done was - Done close ups and moving with the editing but not too much so it makes people dizzy. - I have also learned that I need to smile more, which I wont be doing as much in the next 8 videos as I already recorded them. - My next step is to do a bunch of covers. - Im posting 3x per week for the next couple months, every wed Ill have a song from my live show at City winery. - https://youtu.be/HTmuwYky3vQ

I saw so many improvements from your last post. I really liked the message after the song was over to make it feel more personal as well. I think it will definitely make the viewer feel more connected to the words. I think the biggest thing is working on those thumbnails and potentially testing different ones for one video to see which one works best. Overall great improvement!

@Houston Bernard something that relates directly to the title. Like a single picture that captures what the song is about. I think it’s also important to note the title and thumbnail should never have the same words. A viewer doesn’t need both to understand the video. If you do have words in the title I would try to keep it 3 or less
Still going strong.
So since the start of black ops 6 I have set my self a goal to post every day for the next 30days and going to set that target each time I complete it. I am currently 2 days away the 14 day mark and don’t feel like giving up yet! I’ve gained 120 subs in this time and my average views since bo6 dropped is 1393 before this my views would bounce between 100 to 1000+ a video. Am slowly seeing the results just need to keep pushing and improving my content each day! Daily videos ain’t for everyone but am trying to see if the proof is in the pudding of it being good or not for the channel and my mental health too. As it’s not just a post a video challenge it’s a mental challenge to block out any excuses of not posting and trying to do this around a fulltime job and being a fulltime dad to 2 toddlers! Hope your all keeping well btw

this is awesome to hear! keep pushing to get better every day, black ops 6 could easily blow up as well so definitely has a lot of potential there too
Shorts Video
I posted this shorts video and it did pretty well but along with most of my shorts it stopped getting views eventually. For the people who post shorts often, what do you find is the main difference between the shorts that hit the plateau and those that keep progressing after a long period of time?

@Phil MacNevin I think it slows down after it gets pushed out to a new audience and it isn't showing the same statistics. You might have 118% view duration but if it's shown to 1000 completely new people and they only watch it 50% for example it will still show a pretty high view duration but those extra people didn't enjoy it as much. This is only an idea but after watching the video Dillan posted under my long form video and looking over a lot of my retention charts for shorts, it makes sense that this would be the case. Usually my retention only goes down by 1, maybe 2 seconds and it stops getting pushed out completely.

@Cupppa Joe I agree it does play a significant role in the performance of the video but it’s definitely not the final determining factor. Most of my video have 80+ swipe percentage and over 100% retention. There’s gotta be a couple other factors that we can’t see on metrics that are super important to whether it gets pushed out more or not
