@Julian Scheufler Exactly what they always drive home. Compartmentalization! 1. Production 2. Editing 3. Mixing 4. Mastering 5. Don't do editing while you are producing 6. Don't do mixing while you are editing 7. Don't do mastering while you are mixing 8. Main thing is the end in mind perspective. If you start production with the finished master in mind, you tend to do things more efficiently and always thinking about ways to make the next step in the process easier to deal with. For instance "Fix it at the source" means if a vocalist is having trouble staying on key, schedule a different day for them to come in and do it over. At that point they are spent. You can still use it as a scratch track and get something else done like guitar or bass tracks or whatever it takes to move things along and keep progressing. Fixing it at the source saves time not having to fix it in editing. Fixing stuff in editing saves time having to fix edits in the mixing session. Anyway you get the point.
