Should I follow models I cold DM?
Should I follow models before I cold DM them or it isn't necessary? If I don't, does it effect where my message goes in their inbox?

@Eli Hollingsworth Don't forget they also obsess over 'suggested friends' and who/what/why/how the reason for the suggestion was.

@Eli Hollingsworth Their own. For example, I used to date a girl who'd watch her suggested friends like a hawk. If she couldn't figure out a plausible reason for the suggestion, she'd randomly ask me, "Do you know her? 'Cause she was a friend suggestion and I've never seen her before." That was fun.

I think you need processes and habits more than motivation. My issue isn't losing weight or getting in shape. It's fucking staying that way. Twice now - in 2015 and in 2022 - I dropped 60-70lbs and got close af to a six pack. First time I was jobless and second time I was working part-time, which in both cases basically meant fitness and nutrition was my job. The moment I began work full-time again, it all went downhill. After waking up 7am and staying at some job till 4:30pm, last thing I feel like doing is making food and then going to the gym 6pm. Sure, you can say you'll "manage your time" and "stay on top of it" but after the second week of having to now wake up 6am to meal prep, you eventually say screw it. Maybe there's some super organized, uber motivated types out there who'd call this lazy but for me the logistics are simply not sustainable. I eventually fell off, got friggin depressed, and just started eating shit again as I spent every evening escaping into a fantasy land while I wait to wake up the next day and do the same miserable shit all over again. Which brings this to another level, and that's the overall worthiness of the goal. When you're stuck in a shit job in a shit city living a shit life, going 100 miles out of your way to maintain a meal prep and lifting schedule just does not seem worth it. The only solution I have to this is 1. work for yourself in a type of business where you set your own hours or 2. work for someone else in a position where you set your own hours. Ideally remote and asynchronous. So far I haven't achieved either of these but I'm working on it.
2 reasons Why every man should keep a diary/journal
1) You're destined for greatness, the average person is satisfied with having an unattractive spouse, a mediocre job, being out of shape. Think of it as a biography. 2) Your kids will be inspired by it. Maybe there might need to be a PG version but this is big picture, long term thinking in action.

@Steven Harris Well, I think recording our experience is part of that learning from our own errors. I think 20 minutes for a journal entry is a bit long, though. It's not a blog post. lol

@Jeff Crabtree Hey bro. Saw your IG before in the testimonials. Are you basically doing events as a full time job, if I may ask? Also, I see you linked Corey Cha's course. I just bought the full package after devouring the free version.
The Secrets to Story Highlights
I noticed that there is a wide variance of how people use story highlights on Instagram and not a lot of information on organizing them as you would your feed. The two main things I see that I believe are effective are compilations (podcast appearance clips, memes, etc) and highlights that tell a story or document a valuable event (ex: Babes and Toy Land 2022). I will be organizing my highlights in these two formats and I will be curating them so that I appeal to all the communication styles as according to the process communication model. Facts, Fun, Feelings, Rebellion, Imagination, Value. I also think Evo Psych could be of use in deciding what to highlight. (protection, provisioning, access to scare resources, etc) Currently I have a highlight for "knowledge" where I post logical and valuable things (my book list, life advice quotes, etc) and I edit political/ social cartoons into single highlights (1 video per highlight). If you organize your highlights in a particular way how do you categorize them and what things do you highlight? I think there may be something of value in figuring out what things should be seen "above the fold" (what is seen without scrolling) and the exact things you should highlight (and things you shouldn't) when building a brand.

"Facts, Fun, Feelings, Rebellion, Imagination, Value." Boom. Thanks so much for this. I've been racking my head over how to best organize highlights and this was exactly what I was trying to clear up for myself. Though Michael says you can basically put a "picture of your feet while taking a shit" in the highlights, I'd still like them to be intentional and organized. haha The one thing I'd like to add regarding highlights is a branded, unified look. In my opinion, every highlight category should have a cover theme - whether it's the same text, or similar icon style, etc. These are easy to find by just looking up branding kits in Google or Pinterest.

@Kyle Mullaney I didn't know you could upload an animated gif as a highlight cover. Hah. Brilliant.
