I have often expressed the idea that using AI LLMs like ChatGPT is more about comfortable conversation than "rocket science" prompt engineering. I get a lot of push-back on that, especially from gurus charging big bucks for their prompt engineering trainings. I do not mind. Really. I eat OK. My conversational prompt style works fine for me, and for the numerous clients I have trained. Sometimes though, I play with it "just because". I do not know how you feel about it, but I tend to be polite when interacting with my favorite LLMs. You know, "please" and "thank you" and such. After all, you just never know. I also like engaging them in general conversations -- not just research or text manipulation -- like this one, "A Conversation With ChatGPT" which I shared here: https://stephenbhenry.com/conversation-with-chatgpt/ I noticed that one of the LLMs I use frequently was also using "please" and "thank you" and I did not recall noticing it before. Maybe it was new. Maybe I had not picked up on it. Anyway, I commented, "When did you get so polite? One might think you were Canadian!" to which it replied: "Ah, a keen observation! "While I don't have personal attributes like nationality, my responses are designed to be helpful and informative. Politeness is often seen as a positive quality in human interaction, so I strive to incorporate it into my responses." Of course! Remember, "prompt engineering" does not have to be rocket science.
