Welcome josef
Hi everyone
Just started spray paint art after witnessing a street artist create a masterpiece while on a trip to Las Vegas two months ago. I am an artist by blood, but a neck injury last year made me hang up my paint brushes and pencils. But hey, I can still hold spray cans! I used to work as an automotive painter for a hot rod shop, so I’m used to how things should flow. A lot of the tricks used here are also used in the custom paint world. Anyway, enough about me, here’s 2/3s of my most recent work in progress. This is only my seventh piece. My clear coat ate away the white fog I was putting between the tree layers, so I may redo that part. Glad to be here. Can’t wait to see what everyone produces!

Miss my art
Unfortunately I can't do any art because I have to do mine outside and here in England it's done nothing but rain so no art from me for awhile 😞

Try building a mini car pool, or have a really really good gazebo 😂
Maybe opinion byast, it's literally in the name.
Is spray paint on public property just vandalism, or street art? Or maybe the better question is: when does it cross the line and become vandalism? Personally, I don’t think most of it counts as art it’s just ruining public spaces and making everything look (even) worse. But there are exceptions like take Banksy or any actual artist in my opinion. That’s art with a message, a purpose behind it. A bunch of teens going rogue with spray cans, though? Not so much. There’s definitely a line, and I think it has to do with intention, skill, and whether it adds value or just damages the space. Some cities actually embrace street art and give artists designated walls or spaces, which I think is a great balance. It celebrates creativity without messing up public property. My neighborhood have beautiful murals that have brought new energy to the area, but bad tagging just drags everything down, aka gangs/football teams. There’s definitely a line, but where do we draw it? What do you all think?

Art is subjective but if you paint a nice mural that would be liked more widely even in an illegal spot it’s more likely to be accepted. It’s the intent behind the piece, is it for the art or for the damage? If it’s for the damage then it’s likely to not be accepted by the public, more so by other writers
