🚨 Important Update: Moving to Discord
TL;DR: we're moving to: https://discord.gg/PScDE2bCvD --- Three months ago, I started this community on Skool to test the platform, and it’s been an incredible experience. 🙌 However, after a lot of consideration, I’m considering to move the community to Discord for a few key reasons: - 🗣️ Better Communication: Real-time chats make conversations smoother and more interactive. - 📚 Channels: Organize discussions by topics, keeping everything clean and easy to navigate. - 🤖 Bots: Skool is really full of bots. It's super hard to keep it clean for free communities - 📹 Gathering: Discord comes with native video-call features (and coworking) Moving to Discord will make it easier for us to connect, share, and hold live events. What do you think? PS: I created a new Discord server here: https://discord.gg/PScDE2bCvD

@Xavier Coiffard It certainly helps to make individual connections. But content has always been a struggle with discord. I know a couple of different approaches. (discourse, separate wiki, different channel structures, ...) but it still is a headache. I haven't seen any real good setup. People seem to use discord more as a replacement for IRC and maybe an issue tracker.

@Xavier Coiffard Fair question. Maybe slightly. I see Skool more like a blog with comments than a content library. I just know it will not make things easier with discord.
Tech Stack
I am curious: What do you folks use for building? What programming language? What framework (if you use one)? Where do you deploy? What's great and what is still too painful?

@Ana Banana Yes, there are OAuth providers - but no custom OAuth providers last time I checked. If you just need the big ones (Google, Github, etc) it's not a problem.

@Paul Van hecke The moment Django runs on Mojo I am open to try it again :)
Audience Targeting
I would love to target people from certain Facebook Groups but it seems like this is not supported by FB. All the suggested solutions I found require posting as a Facebook Page for re-targeting - but that's inauthentic as it can be for a group. And probably not well received. Has anyone had success in this direction?

Is having the app as the homepage a good idea ?
Hi everyone, I’m developing a web application called Focusplus.io, designed to help users stay focused and productive. As of now, the website's homepage is the app itself—users are taken directly to the application as soon as they visit the site. 1. Is this a good idea? 2. What are the potential pros and cons of this setup? 3. How would this affect your experience or impression of the app? Here are a few considerations I’ve thought about: Pros: - Immediate Access: Users can start using the app immediately without additional clicks. - User Engagement: The absence of an intermediary page might increase the likelihood of users engaging with the app. - Simplicity: It creates a streamlined experience, especially for returning users who already know what the app does. Cons: - Lack of Information: New visitors might miss important details about the app's functions and why they should use it. - First Impressions: It could be confusing or off-putting for first-time visitors who expect a traditional homepage with more context. - SEO Impact: Without a traditional homepage, there might be challenges with search engine optimization (SEO) since there’s less content for search engines to index. I’d love to hear your feedback and any other considerations I might have missed. Thanks in advance for your input!

My suggestion: use www.focusplus.io and app.focusplus.io and then redirect as needed. It's infuriating when you cannot reach information from the website just because your are logged in. Having these two domains gives you all the flexibility and people that want to go directly to the app will just bookmark app dot. SEO will focus on www as app is hidden behind authentication anyway. At least it works for us. The only thing we are considering is to maybe also allow to login directly from www. To reduce one click. But not sure yet.

@Xavier Coiffard Ah, sorry, I didn't try it. If it's usable without a login that's a whole different story of course. Just have the normal info reachable via navigation and all is fine. I just think your sign-up is too hidden like that. That's something I would suggest to change.
HN front page results
My little day on the front page of HN is over. Started at 10 am and it was still there was 3 am when I went to bed. 19k visitors so far. 10+ signups, 3 entered card details to start a trial. I'm super happy with the result.
