Hi all - I hope you have a productive week ahead!
I wanted to explain why I decided to create this community. Humans, are tribal by nature and we tend to gravitate to communities and places that we resonate with. Sam Ovens says, "Create the community you wish you had" - so that's exactly what I've done. I wanted to create a space that we can be vulnerable, open about our challenges and figure out how we move forward as we keep an eye on our goals.
When I started learning about business (coming from a freelancer background in film and global events), I had no idea what to expect or what I was doing. There were times over the years I would be excited to start something and very quickly I would stop - and start something completely new (and repeat that process). I didn't have a mentor and was guessing everything and not understanding anything! It wasn't until I got more serious about it, and started to get coaching and obsessively learnt anything I could get my hands on, did I realise that the feelings of resistance and how tough it was, was actually normal! No one told me that - until I found the right people to listen to.
Over the past years I've done so much training. Even still, we can be susceptible to unsuspecting people who don't have our best interests in mind. This evens happens to well-established business people who have been open about it. I'm glad for their honesty and transparency about their experiences. I can also see what I've really liked from certain training and what makes proper sense, and I wanted to put it all together here with my interpretation and now from my experience.
We can all have the resources, checklists, step-by-step processes, but if we don't have our mindset in the right place, we can find ourselves swimming around endlessly in a loop without even realizing it. We sometimes losing months if not years at a time until we "wake up" out of our thinking and realise there is another way. This has happened to me many times! LOL. It's easy to do! And with social media and their strong algorithms, they often know us better than ourselves and literally steals our time from us until we become very aware.
For me Skool is a place where we can focus away from the constant ads popping up in our feeds distracting us and taking us away from the things that matter to move the needle forward. And here we are almost half way through August 2024, and we still have time to make an incredible impact on the remaining 2nd half of this year.
It takes trial and error to learn and understand what we want to do. I've previously sat on something for so long, only to finally try it to realise it wasn't something I was even interested in. So now I dive in a lot quicker. It's in that exploration, that journey through different ideas and paths, where we discover our true passions and strengths. But it doesn't happen on the sidelines. We actually have to get in there and do the thing. Reverse engineer it with the thinking, and know that every step you take forward towards that which you want, is actually getting you closer and is one less thing you have to do. But we tend to stay stuck until we truly understand this.
Business is about embracing the tough decisions and actions we have to make on a daily basis (yes daily!). By learning to love the game of business and the challenges, helps us to stay the path and be resilient. Enjoy the journey, embrace failing (because it's not actually failing - it's learning what not to do next time).
This group is based around action-taking, asking a lot of (great) questions, and collectively shifting us to new levels. There will be a large focus on mindset, because clearly, this is the biggest part of the puzzle of why people don't move forward when we have everything in front of us.
Looking forward to getting to know you on this incredible journey! I'm daunted and excited at the same time to be building in public, but I want others to see the process and understand the effort we need to take to get where we're aiming for.
Onwards and upwards!
