Mastering Individual Instruments

Hello All,

I'm a newbie to mixing n mastering. Anyways, I have 2 questions:

1. Is it smart to master individual instruments on Garageband?

Also would if I did would it be considered as part of the mixing stage or mastering stage?

I got the idea from what I learned in the Day 1 — 42:44.

I'm thinking if mastering the individual instruments would create a smooth and gentle mix for the overall whole master but I'm unsure.
