How do you overcome "We recruit ourselves"?
Hey Recruiter Kingdom,
I specialize in recruiting sales talent within the logistics sector here in Australia.
My background in sales naturally led me to focus on this area—it's a space where I understand the language and can connect deeply with candidates.
Salespeople are, in many ways, similar to us recruiters.
One challenge I've encountered is that most top salespeople, along with hiring managers and sales managers, are active on LinkedIn, which is great for them but tough for us.
As we all know, finding exceptional sales talent on job boards is like finding a needle in a haystack, but LinkedIn is a goldmine.
However, this creates a problem: many potential clients I approach already recruit through LinkedIn and don't see the need for external recruiters.
In the logistics sector, particularly in Australia, where the industry is relatively small and tightly knit, this is even more pronounced.
Many hiring managers and sales managers already have strong networks and are comfortable recruiting on their own.
So, I'm reaching out to see how you all navigate this.
Have you faced similar objections? How do you overcome the "We recruit ourselves" response?
Should I consider focusing on a different industry or perhaps a different type of role within sales?
While I’m passionate about recruiting salespeople, I want to ensure I'm working in a sector that truly values our expertise and I can make money there.
I’m eager to hear your insights and appreciate any advice you can offer.
Thanks in advance!
