Afternoon troops, Been in sales since January, BDM for a commercial solar installer based in Scotland. In terms of the role, I’ll scope out companies that fit our criteria (typically north of Manchester, roof big enough for minimum 100kW of solar and a high energy user - manufacturer etc) then I’ll scour LinkedIn for a good person to contact which can be a stab in the dark for solar tbf (Sustainability Manager, Facilities Manager, Engineering Manager, Finance Manager, MD if I’m lucky) Then I would cold email, follow up, book a discovery meeting, get some info on their leccy consumption, leccy tariff. Then send this to our design team, they design and quote (1-2 weeks) send to me I make proposal with generation, payback, co2 reduction etc Then there’s a lot of chasing for a meeting to go through proposal or waiting for it to go through the chain of command to finally move forward with sign up for pre-construction. Then I’m a account manager in a sense until pre-construction is over and its passed onto a project manager for the install. I have only recently plucked up the courage to cold call rather than hide behind the email so just trying to learn as much as possible on it. Thanks for having me!
