What was it like to have the #609 ranked book on ALL of Amazon?
I won't make you read a long post before I get the point and just tell you: It's wasn't that big of a deal. Like, nothing really changed for me that day (it was July 22, 2021). Because of the size and length of the book (7x10, 242 pages), I make less than $1 royalty on each sale of the book. This data is from Keepa and I'll show you how to use it for marketing your book in the Self-Publishing Challenge (starts Monday). My book on Arbitrage on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1478251891/ So if I'm not making "big bucks" from the sales and royalties of my book, why does this even matter? ONE BIG REASON: MARKETING You see, I can now use this information for the marketing of my book and marketing is 99% of the path to success with self-publishing. I can now say, with a straight face, that MY BOOK is the book with the best all-time Sales Rank in this space. I'll say it from the stage and on social media. I can now say, with a straight face, that my book was in the TOP 1,000 ON ALL OF AMAZON! There is ONLY ONE WAY to do this and that is to write a book that SELLS LIKE CRAZY (even if only for a short period of time). I can now say, with a straight face, that my book had a better Sales Rank than (INSERT NAME OF FRIENDLY COMPETITOR HERE). And yes, you can also look up the all-time best Sales Ranks for other books, including books from competitors in your space or even just well-known influencers. You'd be surprised how many "big name authors" have never had their books reach the Top 1,000 on Amazon. For example, I can now write a friendly post on social media about how MY BOOK achieved a better Sales Rank than Gary Vaynerchuk's Thank You Economy (best all-time Sales Rank of #2,811). I could tag @garyvee and might even get a friendly jab as a reply. And that reply could lead to some of his fans/followers to notice and follow me on social media. And I could then use that reply to get more attention and as further social proof.
