Started shooting faux BTS for my core assets :)
Hi Fam, I've finally started "thinking" about my own VBS, Process video, and other core assets, and collecting and shooting B-roll to make it stand out a bit. I started shooting staged BTS footage (due to insufficient material from the true productions we've had so far). Quite a good exercise btw :) Wish I had a longer Nanlite Pavotube lights and some better light stands though, would probably make it way better as these cheap Quadralites look a little too short in these frames. Let me know what you think about it, and if it's good enough to be used :) Thanks!

Perfectionism frequently leads to procrastination and paralysis! Get it done with what you have -which is awesome - and you can tweak later.
Networking Sucks!
Only if you don't know how to do it. Yes, there's a science to networking. If you are attending a networking meeting expecting to sell everyone and their mothers, you are doing it wrong. Networking events are to learn about other business owners and create connections and conversations that eventually lead to deals. People love talking about themselves. If you ask the right questions, they will be talking about themselves for hours and they will fell like they had an amazing conversation. Even though they did most of the talking. Here are some questions that I use every time and they work like a charm to get them going. - What do you do? - Who's your target market? - What do you like the most about what you do? - What's new in your business? - What's the biggest challenge in your business? - What sets you apart from your competition? - Why did you start your business? - What's your most popular product/service? - How do you generate most of your business? - How did you land your last client? Take mental note of their answers and follow up. The money is in the follow up! Set up a time to do a 1-2-1 at a coffee shop, or a lunch meeting and bring up names, details that they mentioned during that first encounter. They will feel heard and understood and people love that. You will be tempted to sell your services during both encounters but try to avoid selling them. Mention what you do and leave them intrigued so they ask for more info but don't make the conversation about yourself. Then you can set another time to meet and if they are a good fit, have a deep dive conversation about how you can help them. Also, I try not to give out my business cards. I take their business cards so I am in control of the follow up. Chances are they won't call you, text you or email you after the meeting. But if you have their business card, you can make sure that next conversation takes place. What are some of your best networking strategies?

How do you guys introduce yourselves at networking events?
I went to really, my first networking event in person today. And woah did I realize I'm an amateur at that setting. It's a lead-gen source im forcing myself to just get comfortable with. What I'm not new at is sales conversations and talking in depth about things - but when it comes to surface level introductions, wow am I bad lmao. I'm just so curious how you introduce yourself, and then when someone asks you about more specifics of what kind of videos that you do, what do you say next? The neural pathways from my brain have not connected yet for me in this area lol. I feel its because in a typical sales setting, I never talk about the videos that I do upfront, I have no need to. Prescribing solutions comes way after diagnosing the problems. Articulating specific benefits of videos without it being directed to a specific problem is something that I have literally never done before in years of doing this.

@Cheryl P I usually say I own a video marketing agency and we only work with small and medium sized businesses. I agree the term videographer doesn’t portray the value of what we do.

@Brandon P there’s a brand called 32 Degrees. They have quality clothes for cheap. I buy their stuff online or at Costco and then have someone print my logo on them. I have quarter zips, tshirts, polos and that’s what I wear for my networking events. I also bought a bunch of Kirkland pants at Costco for like $15 each and they look like dressy pants but they are stretchy and super comfortable. So you look good, professional and you are comfortable without spending a lot of money on clothes. But I do think that if you are trying to market yourself to higher paying clients, you should dress up better than jeans and a polo shirt. Also i love wearing hats but in 3 years of being a BNI member, I have never worn a hat to a meeting. I feel like it takes away the professionalism by wearing one. Hope that helps
Happy to be part of the Squad
