Holding myself to realistic expectations and digging in deeper to how being female and over 40 affects my progress.
Food that appear healthy it aren’t…
Protein meal supplements including bars, shakes, cookies, etc. seem like a good way to get the protein but the sugar and carbs are high. As. A true meal replacement they aren’t the worst things in a pinch but the idea one bar is going to fill you up after a workout is laughable. I do like protein chips as a quick snack. 19G of protein, 4 carbs, no added sugar, but there is a lot of salt. I just can’t keep fresh veggies in my truck all day.

My first response is don’t do cheat meals. It gives the mind the impression it’s wrong/bad. Instead, partake in what you enjoy but be aware of how much and how often so, you don’t spiral. If you are going to “cheat” do it after a workout when you are burning the most calories.
Balancing Nutrition
My day starts at 4AM and ends around 10PM between work and kids activities. Dinner must be either planned and prepped or insanely simple and quick. But, it has to taste good and I HATE leftovers. Below is a sample of a whoops, I need to make something quick! Avocado Crab Boats Proteins: Crab meat (12-16 oz: lump, claw…whatever is on sale or fresh) 5-6 oz Greek yogurt plain Fat (healthy) Avocado (2-3 depending on amt of crab used) Seasoning Tony’s (sorry, I’m from Louisiana so no Old Bay for me). You can use salt and cayenne too. 3 TBS lemon juice Simply mix ingredients Scoop out avocados, leave a rim Place a spoonful into each avocado Top with shredded cheese (cheddar works) Broil till browned.
