9/7/2024 NEWS
Tribe, I'm going to be posting news and events that are not really covered in the media. If you all like this, I can turn it into an email newsletter or something similar. Let me know if you like it or not. Politics: - The Crypto4Harris group said it is planning eight fundraising events for Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign to raise the cryptocurrency industry’s profile with the Harris campaign and push Harris toward pro-crypto policies. - According to people familiar with the matter, President Biden is planning to block the purchase of U.S. Steel by Nippon Steel Corporation. U.S. Steel said blocking the deal would put thousands of jobs and U.S. Steel’s Pittsburgh, PA headquarters at risk. - New York Governor Kathy Hochul said she asked the Biden administration to expel China’s Consulate General Huang Ping after the indictment of a former Hochul aide. The State Department said Huang was not expelled and was scheduled to leave the consulate. - President Biden is considering an executive order (EO) to expand restrictions on the number of asylum claims allowed when border encounters rise above 1,500 per day for a week. According to people familiar with the planning, the new EO would restrict asylum claims if there are more than 1,500 encounters per day for several weeks. - Ultium Cells LLC voluntarily recognized an effort by employees at its new Spring Hill, TN electric vehicle battery plant to join the United Auto Workers (UAW) union. - The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Inspector General said the EPA must increase vetting for research grants to prevent the theft of technology by the Chinese government. According to the EPA Inspector General, the Chinese government has recruited more than 7,000 scientists, engineers, and finance experts into a “malign foreign talent recruitment program” since 2008 to provide technological and scientific information to China. - U.S. District Judge J. Campbell Barker denied a request from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to lift a pause on President Biden’s “Parole In Place” program to provide an expedited path to citizenship for illegal immigrant spouses of U.S. citizens. Campbell also ordered the pause to be extended until 23 September.

I concur with Michael. the news feed type works best for me.
Welcome! Introduce yourself + what disaster/event are you most concerned about?
Welcome everyone! As you can see, we're still under construction. I highly recommend checking out the classroom tab above. ☝️ There, you'll find an early class I put together for basic preparedness. I also did a live class on "Disaster Planning" over a year ago here in Pennsylvania. I highly recommend turning on "captions." The sound quality isn't the greatest. I want to thank you all! Feel free to share any information on preparedness, disasters, etc. This was created to build community and share ideas and information to help us with what's on the horizon.
