The State Department said Huang was not expelled and was scheduled to leave the consulate. - President Biden is considering an executive order (EO) to expand restrictions on the number of asylum claims allowed when border encounters rise above 1,500 per day for a week. According to people familiar with the planning, the new EO would restrict asylum claims if there are more than 1,500 encounters per day for several weeks. - Ultium Cells LLC voluntarily recognized an effort by employees at its new Spring Hill, TN electric vehicle battery plant to join the United Auto Workers (UAW) union. - The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Inspector General said the EPA must increase vetting for research grants to prevent the theft of technology by the Chinese government. According to the EPA Inspector General, the Chinese government has recruited more than 7,000 scientists, engineers, and finance experts into a “malign foreign talent recruitment program” since 2008 to provide technological and scientific information to China. - U.S. District Judge J. Campbell Barker denied a request from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to lift a pause on President Biden’s “Parole In Place” program to provide an expedited path to citizenship for illegal immigrant spouses of U.S. citizens. Campbell also ordered the pause to be extended until 23 September.
