Hi guys, on Spotify, the master I done is less loud that other songs even I 'm at 0 dbfs. Is there anything else I need to do before sending the master to the platforms? here what I have with MetricAB - the blue is my song - the orange is the reference track If I play my song and the reference song side by side on Spotify, my song feel quieter.

Expensive "rap" vocals?

Hey guys. I was just wondering. You often show the techniques used to get those expensive "singing" vocals. Like automating the the nuances at the end of words etc. But what of rap vocals that don't necessarily have the same delivery as sung vocals. How do you get the expensive sounding rap vocals that pop in a mix? The first step to those “expensive” rap vocals is the microphone and signal chain going into the recording. Typical chain seems to be Sony c800 to 1176 or CL1B (even if there’s not much compression going in). Lots of compression for sure. Other than that it’s all the same stuff we teach but a little more aggressive on the compression side. You can find more specifics on devvons channel I’m sure but don’t overly obsess with a specific signal chain or specific settings since those will be slightly diff each time. Also check into what Mike Dean does with recording/mixing his artists. Again…this is all assuming that the recording and performance are at a high level. These days you can get great quality with an emulation mic going into an Apollo twin and just use plugins.
